WTF....where is my happy holiday. :monkey2

I thought I did. I must be getting old **** I turned 39 dec 14th and it seems I am forgetting who is who on this forum. I don't know who is saying what I might have replied back to the wrong person about ROTS, so to everyone have a great holiday week, I hope we all can come together as humanity and learn to respect each other. Let us all be grateful with what we have. Being on a statue forum I'm sure we all are blessed to have a great collection. At least Lucas gave us great characters. I love my star wars statues, I sold all tfa statues and toys lol!!! But my Iron Vader I will always cherish. Anyways, I am rambling but as a social worker I worked with homeless families and it broke my heart, so you guys if you see someone this holiday season struggling try and do something nice for them. Okay said my peace. Happy holidays to all!!!!! You too jye4ever.

The movie is uninterested in fan theories: Remember the part where I mentioned the guy who’s mad at Disney for making the so-called expanded universe non-canonical? On plenty of Star Wars message boards, there’s always been a little anger at the new trilogy for not adhering to established expanded universe ideas like Han Solo and Leia being happily married, or Luke Skywalker running a Jedi Academy. Instead, the movie suggests that after Return of the Jedi came a slow devolution into disappointment and ruin. (Hey, just like how the ’60s panned out, right, baby boomers?)

And even if you can get with the new trilogy’s ideas about how things ended up after Jedi, then The Last Jedi spends a lot of its running time telling you that a lot of the things fans have obsessed about since The Force Awakens was released just didn’t matter.

crows is right (as usual) this thread is freaking bonkers.

I think even the KKK has joined in so now i’m just waiting for the nation of islam, black panthers and symbionese liberation army to follow lol

There's a lot more in the Star Wars universe than Rebels/Jedi vs Empire/Sith.

But the films are obsessed with that.

The EU took the characters into new worlds with different problems.

Hopefully this is where the Han Solo movie comes in.

Break the never ending cycle of light and dark forces rising to balance each other out.

I used to find the non-Jedi related EU the most interesting. Han, Chewie and Lando riding around the galaxy, getting up to mischief.

Bring back the space cowboys, smugglers, gamblers, crimelords, and so on.

Star Wars is silly and dated and should be abandoned.

Many said the same about BR and look at the glorious film we got via Villeneuve.

SW deserves the same triumphant revival. Johnson just wasn't the man for the job and Kennedy is an imbecile for allowing him to shoot such an awful movie.

In a world without Kennedy, I can see a Duncan Jones or a Neill Blomkamp deliver a stellar SW movie that properly advances the mythos ala what Villeneuve did with BR.

At this point, Kennedy is becoming known for not vetting directors properly.
Fired Lord and Miller from Solo, replaced Colin Trevorrow with JJ for IX, got rid of Josh Trank and the Boba Fett project... And clearly messed up with Rian Johnson.

Villeneuve would be one of my first pics for SW actually, but probably not for the script. I would be too afraid that we would get another movie that doesn't match the universe.

If Disney are really interested in diversity, then bring back a younger Lando for his own trilogy.

Make Star Wars great again!

Nooooooo.... not Blomkamp. I can see his "walkers" now. It be like having Cameron do a Star Wars. Those two guys are good directors but have a very finite sci-fi vision.

My larger point was the fact that you seemed to insinuate that Luke was selfish or a glory hound in the OT.. Just not the case IMO

I never said anything of the kind! Of course Luke was just a farmboy on a quest in the OT. But he became more than *after* the OT before it was all taken away again.

Its the fact that when she says "They are the worst people in the Universe" then a quick shot to rich people on a Barge.. Then Rich people in a Casino.. It took a bit to see that they abused animals, kept slaves, and made weapons for the war.. The initial reveal was to play on "Rich = Evil" narrative.

Oh stop you're starting to sound like one of "them" now. :D

Every hive they step into in SW features the "worst kind of scum," these guys' particular vices just happened to be animal races, slaves, and lining their pockets with money earned directly from the First Order.

JAWS...after reading Khev’s response...

:lol :lol

Disney really want to get the Finn/Poe thing going, because that kind of diversity is everywhere on film and TV now. But they're just too afraid to come out and do it.

Just get on and do it if you want to. :lol

I can see him delivering something very close to ANH/ESB tonally and stylistically. I think had he done TLJ, it'd actually be watchable.

:lol :lol

He also said that the Resistance/Republic was buying from the arms dealers not just the FO.

He was telling the truth and his double cross was pretty damn devious and played out very well onscreen. For a kids movie not bad depth.

But for a Snikt movie it was very poorly handled, 7.8 max for that turd!

Blomkamp is pretty preachy too in his own way. He's also apparently devoid of the light touch and sense of humor that Star Wars desperately needs. It would be very watchable I'm sure, but you and I both can imagine exactly what he'd give us; his style is that predictable already.

Cameron's closer to what Star Wars needs, but he'd add his macho blue-collars and blue lighting to everything. If I told you Cameron was doing Rogue One, you can totally imagine what he would have done with that team and how their mission interactions would go.

I want the Russo brothers as directors, supervised to make sure the humor remains limited and consistent with Star Wars.
