I don’t think there’s even been threadcrapping here.

Dude your threadcrapping detector is busted af. If you were Santa you'd have a Nice List and a These Guys Are Okay, Too List.
I mean that as a compliment. I imagine you float on a rock while you post.

Absolutely...The force the way we were taught about it for 40 years would still be around

We don't know that! George is inconsistent too! He always maintained Lightsabers were either Red or Blue, then he created Green because of the contrast against the sky. Then he creates Purple, why? Because Samual L Jackson asked for it.

This was the concept art, but yeah a beard would have been cool

Not bad. It's a bit too Dr. Evil though.

The only thing that's annoying me about this thread now is that everyone blames DISNEY!
All Disney did was buy out Lucasfilm, it still runs independently, just Disney profit from it.

Kathleen and her team would have still made the same choices whoever owned Lucasfilm. I highly doubt Bob Igor has any input whatsoever apart from demanding that Lucasfilm pump out x number of films by 2020.

I'll quote myself:

That's the thing though. Marvel isn't doing that. So truly this isn't on Disney, but on Lucasfilm, so Kathleen Kennedy.

And although the films wouldn't necessarily be better in the hands of George Lucas, they certainly would benefit from his input as a consultant because he gets Star Wars, and the people in charge at the moment don't.

There's that point in the film after Snoke's bodyguards have been despatched when Kylo is pleading with Rey to see things his way. She refuses and he becomes hysterical in his frustration:

"No, no, you're still holding on! Let go!"

That pretty much sums up the opposing views of this film. Each side trying win the other to theirs.

But with this film, as with the PT there is only a path through the middle of it. A very narrow and precarious path, with unsafe footholds. I have to select the things that I like, and overlook (or absorb) the awkward moments.

I'll raise my vote to 5/10 as predicted.

Meanwhile, the tomatoes are turning to the dark side:

The critics dropped 1%. :panic:

very well said...agreed

Still cool lore-wise. It's not like there are 15 different colors like in the Star Wars MMO game. I'm glad they ended up putting more than two in the movies.

I'm not saying he's perfect...but man I would wager Star Wars would have felt more like...er well Star Wars with Lucas

Yeah George turned into a cuck after the OT.

Yes, George Lucas "gets" star wars. That's why he had The Special Editions made. :lol

He gets the universe and how it works. He created it. Of course he shouldn't have total control. Again, it's all about balance.

I don't know if he does get Star Wars anymore though! I think it's like Yoda says in TLJ "we are what they grow beyond"
I think George's creation surpassed him and he lost touch with it and the fanbase. This was evident from the PT. His treatment for the sequels also disregarded any fan service in favour of telling the story he wants to tell.

damn straight...oh having his money helps...oh by the way He is Star Wars Like LOTR was Tolkien...Lucas was Star Wars for a very long time....he gets it...not perfect but he gets it more than Disney, etc

No he doesn't.

Look at RO compared to the prequels. Regardless of how you feel about the quality, RO feels like SW, the PT doesn't.

Completely disagree.
And I liked RO (although it has almost no rewatchability because the only great scenes are the Vader ones), but it still ranks under ROTS for me.

Ro felt like SW because of vader and those last 10 minutes...without that forget it...for me PT felt like star wars...much more than TFA or TLJ....RO was a remake of some war mission pic using star wars characters
