Completely disagree.
And I liked RO (although it has almost no rewatchability because the only great scenes are the Vader ones), but it still ranks under ROTS for me.

100% agree

There's that point in the film after Snoke's bodyguards have been despatched when Kylo is pleading with Rey to see things his way. She refuses and he becomes hysterical in his frustration:

"No, no, you're still holding on! Let go!"

That pretty much sums up the opposing views of this film. Each side trying win the other to theirs.

But with this film, as with the PT there is only a path through the middle of it. A very narrow and precarious path, with unsafe footholds. I have to select the things that I like, and overlook (or absorb) the awkward moments.

I'll raise my vote to 5/10 as predicted.

Nice post enjoyed reading it.

Dude your threadcrapping detector is busted af. If you were Santa you'd have a Nice List and a These Guys Are Okay, Too List.
I mean that as a compliment. I imagine you float on a rock while you post.

lulz

oh man i’m crying you so rock Junk. :rock

anyone that makes me lol with a post is a winner in my book lol

I'll quote myself:

And although the films wouldn't necessarily be better in the hands of George Lucas, they certainly would benefit from his input as a consultant because he gets Star Wars, and the people in charge at the moment don't.

Hmmm

That ship has sailed my friend.

Yes, George Lucas "gets" star wars. That's why he had The Special Editions made. :lol

lulz

The question has been raised a few times why force projection Luke had darker hair and beard.

He was exactly the same in the flashbacks with Ben, so he was merely appearing to Kylo at the age he was when he was training him. So it's a point of immediate relevance for Ben. Maybe a last ditch attempt to bring him back from his current path.

It'll probably be an SDCC exclusive, though I think I prefer the more contemporary looking (older) Hamill.

This thread alone gives me hope still about humanity...gonna tell my wifes priest about this thread maybe he'll do a sermon...LOL...man so glad I don't go to church any more...man if I ever go back to confession its gonna be hard..."How long has it been since your last confession my son"...Gonna tell him "either ESB or ROTJ was playing in the theater...God Damnit I don't freakin remember!" LOL

I was thinking his appearance was designed for maximum effect on Ben, down to the blue lightsaber Ben told Rey he wanted in TFA(which Luke wouldn't have known was destroyed).

Someone else pointed out - and I don't know if it's true - that Kylo stole Luke's green saber and is wearing it in photos from the "Rey's vision" shoot in TFA. If that's the case, having the green saber would have been a tell that he was a hologhost thing.

Just out of curiosity though, is threadcrapping even a thing anymore? Not criticism, but the GARBAGE posts?

Fair question. I've tendered my resignation as a mod to Darklord Dave a couple of times now as I'm ready to be just another fanboy grunt again and I imagine that one of these days he'll get around to changing my status. Until then I'm not going to delete any posts of people hating on a movie I like so that it doesn't come across as me abusing my power. I'll let better and wiser mods (current and in the future) decide who and what needs to be censored/enforced.

That said I haven't been offended by any of the discussion here even if the over-reactions from certain bashers has been quite amusing in it's tenacity. ;)

Yes, George Lucas “Gets” Star Wars because Empire is the best of the series and he didn’t even direct it.

I've accepted defeat. My SW is dead. But, theres good news, the darkside is great, and it's power is strong.
I absolutely adore admire Mark Hamill (liberal that he is:() for having the guts to even do what he has done. Most actors balls would shrivel up into their lower groin/abdomen faster than Rosie O'Donnells cottage cheese puckered ass at a Trump rally. But this guy is really BEING Luke Skywalker for us fans, he's not letting it go down with out a fight. (aka letting us know how he really feels)

I don't give a ****, thats admirable as hell.

Thank you Mark. You will always be Luke Skywalker NO MATTER WHAT THEY DO!

Lucas hated the theatrical OT, Guinness, JEJ, and Ford spoke negatively of the films and their characters, Hamill hating on TLJ Luke, it's just how it goes sometimes. They're all entitled to their opinions (even if it isn't the most professional move to state them publicly) and in the end I take them all with a grain of salt because all that matters is how these films speak to me personally.

Thanks.
Yeah, I'm not offended either but it seems weird when there's a rule on the books so to speak.
Again, I know where I am and I'm realizing who's here for what and it's all good. :duff

In a recent interview it was said that Brian Blessed said the it was not true of Alec and that is was all "hogwash". And that he actually loved it. Again another grain of salt but who really knows. (and i'm aware of what Alec said to the little boy, but that could be taken many of ways)

Hamill's renouncement of TLJ is just the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson pulls a Neill Blomkamp/Elysium/Tomas Alfredson/Snowman and blatantly starts admitting/apologizing for what he did to SW.

Then the apologists would quickly change their position to "I always knew it was bad, just needed time to process it all. Its definitely a bad movie."
