Go watch TFA again, Luke didn't leave the map in R2D2. The old guy at the start of TFA gives it to Poe. No where in the movie is it mentioned that Luke left the map.

Fanbois and their headcanon. :rolleyes2

R2 was shut off by luke only to be activated by the force.

Denial is strong! (read the books)

When I need to be enlightened about a movie i’m conflicted on I always turn to Khev his reverse structural engineering does wonders for my grey.

If I just want to blow my brains out from depression I turn to DiFabio, Wor-Gar and Clown. :lol

:lol :lol

Allright kid now lets blow this thing and go home!

:lol

I always understood it that Alec just didn't understand or have any interest in science fiction. But he was such a professional that he took it completely seriously. He's one of my all time facourite actors.

It's evident that Mark Hamill approached the filming of TLJ with the same professionalism, even though outside of the film he's been very vocal about his character's progression.

My respect for Hamill's performance is absolutely off the charts. The level of professionalism and dedication he exhibited *on screen* in portraying a version of a character he didn't like was profound. I can't say enough about how impressed I am by that. Compared to Ford who pretty much did everything short of wearing a sign around his neck that said "I don't want to be here" for all of his ROTJ scenes.

As far as Hamill's public statements during and after the fact? Eh, Mark's gonna be Mark.

Khev is like a saint in this thread. A paragon of calm amidst a tempestuous sea littered with the wreckage of ruined fandom.

I don't know man...I saw him on another thread running away from apes LOL

R2 had the overall map of the galaxy. Poe/BB8 get the map that leads directly to Luke from the old guy. There's no changing that.

Yeah R2 allegedly got most of the map when he plugged into the DS in ANH (as hinted by Kylo's "archives of the Empire" line in TFA) but Lor San Tekka had the final piece on Jakku. It is never stated that Luke created or gave the map to anyone.

And it was never a map to Luke himself, just the Jedi Temple. "Those who knew him best" just assumed that that's where he'd be.

So, luke skywalker left a map in R2 D2 so that when they needed his help , they would know where to find him......

and then they find him and he tells them to F off?

Luke put together a map to the first Jedi temple. When he completed it he intentionally deleted most of it so as not to be found. Then people like the old guy on Jakku looked for clues to the locationand put it together over a long time. Artoo just had that one piece.

That’s my supposition based on what we’re shown/told onscreen. May be contradicted in books? :dunno

Edit: I put it backwards, Artoo had the map minus the missing piece Bb-8 had.

Aw man...I feel like I owe you guys co pays at my shrink DR Kill Patient

Yes, Mark and Harrison couldn't be farther apart.

I don't think Ford ever bought into it, and couldn't wait to be killed off. Yet, that attitude did at least suit his character in the OT.

And how gave the old man the map to find luke ?

READ TFA novel theres your answer.

I don't need to read, it's in the movie. :lol

Why would Luke hide a map to himself in R2 if he was the only person in the galaxy he could access it through the force and leave R2 behind? That doesn't make any sense.

In actual Canon, Luke finds a compass (you can see this compass throughout TLJ) that's a map to different Temples. He put the map in R2 and gave the last piece of the puzzle to Lor San Tekka, the location of Ach-To.

R2 never had the map to Luke.

You don't get it.:lol

And i've done way more shrooms than your hipster ass could ever dream of. Disappointed son.

R2 WAS shut off! Continue defending plot holes.

No director in their right mind is going to abandon a flick that has gotten the critical praise TLJ has. It's a huge triumph for Johnson, his biggest movie yet.

Just more SNIKT reddit theorys. :lol

The critical praise??? Lmao are you still using [Disney's] critics to defend this garbage? Even Jye (who probably works for Disney) stopped doing that pages ago as the legitimacy of those reviews became more and more questionable.

Hamill himself is publicly bashing this horse**** movie.
