Shame it’s becoming a political thing..like everything else.

There was a message...call it an agenda if you wish. I think all SW films have a message. Depending on your social conspiracy sensitivity that message becomes an agenda.

Important to remember movies throughout history have has social messages in them.

It’s only very recently people think it’s some social engineering evil plan going on.

It's fine if you can't/don't want to see it, many do, and Disney brought it on themselves. I think you can be more empathetic to the dissenting voices to begin to understand them.

KK knows what she's doing. She openly explains her motives. The OT is a far more abstract hero's tale, inspired by Joseph Campbell's myth related work. If the ST wasn't preachy on current year issues, it may have freed up resources for a better script.

The Han Solo books are still some of my favorite. Loved how Daley explained the stripe on Solo's pants as the Corellian Blood stripe. Didn't like how it changed to yellow in empire because it seemed like just something to add color to his outfit for the movie.

Yeah that was really cool to read about.

The constant stream of hate, political and non-political bashing, little to no actual discussion going on of any relevance to the film.

It's just an ugly place now.

I'm so disappointed in this forum.

I can handle people not liking something I like, but this has just gotten out of hand.

Like Khev said you just need to pick and choose who you read and respond to. I'm like Khev and have just been looking at people's avatars on the left side of the page and just reading & responding to members who I like and respect.

This is what it boils down to for me. I didn't like it. No amount of reading discussions about why Johnson or Kennedy did what they did will change that. It was a good movie, but a horrible Star Wars movie for me. I'm happy for the people that did like it and I don't have bad feelings towards anyone that did. Hell I wish I was one of you! I won't be going to the theater to watch it again but I will buy it on bluray. Right now I don't care that much about ep9 but I might as the days and months go by. I'm sure I'll see it in the theater. I've seen every Star Wars movie since ESB in the theater , was too young for ANH.

The jedi die with Luke just as the Sith died with Palpatine. What we have here in this new trilogy are two Grey Jedi for protagonists in Rey and Kylo - "Greys" being what the Whills felt would end the seemingly endless galactic conflict of Light vs. Dark.

My prediction is that at the end of this trilogy Rey (The Chosen One resurrected) will hook up with Kylo (Grandson of the original Chosen One) and give birth to a purebred Grey who will bring forth a new age in the Galaxy where the conflict of Light vs. Dark is long gone.

They are the desired type of Force user that The Whills wanted to inhabit the galaxy. One that wouldn't fear the Dark Side and could practice both Light and Dark without being consumed by either one. Anakin Skywalker was the first. He was naturally drawn to the Light but excelled when embracing the Dark.

Rey and Kylo are the same.

Luke is 100% not the father. Quote me on that in 11 months.

Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper...Johnson is the best thing that happened to this renewed franchise. The only thing that bothers me is that he's not directing IX too.

It won't surprise me at all if his contribution to SW proves to be the film that makes the top of my list and finally dethrones ESB.

When I read posts saying "this can't be better than ESB..." I instantly realize the people who wrote those posts haven't watched Brick, The Brothers Bloom and Looper.

Johnson's a beast.

My money's on BDT playing the true villain of this trilogy. I think he'll be Snoke's master and the "Ren" person the Knights follow.

That working title for TFA "The Ancient Fear" I believe refers to his character.

Not me. I found it to be pretty mediocre at times. Overall a 7/10 and if you take Vader out a 6/10.

RO to me represents what happens when a filmmaker with no clout agrees to do a Disney film. JJ Abrams, Rian Johnson...auteurs that absolutely have final cut in their contracts for any film they're making. So basically The Last Jedi is safe.

Colin Trevorrow, Phil Lord & Christopher Miller on the other hand are all in danger of having the suits disagree with their takes on the films they're setting out to make, like what happened to Edwards.

I think they'll give us the truth about Snoke's identity in VIII.

I want VIII to go full on Bram Stoker's Dracula when Luke confronts Snoke/Plagueis. He draws the green saber and then Snoke flies across the room like a demon.

I want something more sinister than Palpatine - which was pretty damn sinister.

The Snoke is Plagueis reveal will be a big moment. It'll definitely leave the audience stunned despite three years of theorizing that he was indeed Plagueis all along.

I think TLJ will be my new ESB. I say that as a massive Rian Johnson fan who worships Brick & Looper (The Brothers Bloom was also good).

If anyone can make something comparable to ESB, its Johnson.

Couldn't agree with you more. Ozymandias and Fly are some of my fav Breaking Bad episodes. He's a master storyteller.

Predictions for TLJ:

-As the movie opens we learn that Kylo has turned to the Light
-Rey and Kylo hook up (romantically)
-Rey turns to the Dark Side (at least for now, she's really a Grey like Kylo)
-Snoke's identity is revealed
-Leia Organa dies
-Poe Dameron dies
-Kylo begs Luke for forgiveness and joins him in getting Rey back from Snoke

*Rey's identity is not revealed though Luke knows who she is

Rey is naturally drawn to the Dark Side. Kylo is naturally drawn to the Light. They're both Greys so they don't understand that the pull is the will of The Force, to keep them from cementing their allegiance to one particular side, which is what The Whills prophesied The Force aims to destroy. The war between Light and Dark. Their attraction will come from that pull. She's drawn to his Light and he's drawn to her Darkness. Han, Luke, First Order, Resistance...none of it will matter nor get in the way.
