I’m on your side (mostly). I coulda done without the milk, flying and entire casino arc but overall found more good than bad.

I always wandered what “if you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you can imagine” meant. We never dived too deep into the force until PT and all we got was flipping jedi. I figured there was more and I felt Lucas was too afraid to go there....

Yeah, in early drafts of ROTJ Yoda and Obi-Wan take turns showing up to help Luke face off against Vader and the Emperor on the second Death Star. Yoda even deflects one of Vader's strikes like Valeria did in Conan the Barbarian. Johnson finally gave us an on-screen representation of Jedi spirits thwarting a living foe.

And I must say I actually like that it was Astral vs. Physical in TLJ's case rather than Ghost vs. Living as originally conceived by Lucas and Kasdan.

I was never a fan of the ghost attack in ROTK but i’m probably the minority with that one.

I’ll also admit that I didn’t like broom boy to end the movie very bad choice if you ask me.

I also can’t emphasize enough just how much my son had his 77 experience with TLJ.

Nice one. :lol

Well for those of you disappointed in TLJ hopefully Abrams can at least provide an "Episode Fine." ;)

(and yes that was just bad...)

Episode “mine”......

To get back all the people saying “that’s not my Luke”

In the lobby as they were exiting Curious George just ripped the man with the yellow hats face off for taking him to see TLJ

The handling of Luke, Rey, Snoke and Kylo was actually my favorite parts of the film. They coulda spent more time with them and less with Poe, Finn, Rose as none of those story points never resonated with me.

I’m not convinced we’ve seen the last of Luke or Snoke. If we have, I am fine with that as well. With the backlash from fans, I have a sneaking suspicion JJ will be like Uncle George and afraid to explore too far.

Make no mistake about it no matter how much Khev and I can love this movie Wor-Gar is 100% right financial damage will lead to reputation damage which will lead to more financial damage a very viscous cycle to recover from.

IX WILL have force ghost Luke more than likely Hamill signed on for all 3 THEY WILL give us a smiling Luke at the end.

Snoke and Rey’s lineage will be back to fix this reputation disaster.

Explore? Dr Kennedy just gave Star Wars a colonoscopy, hysterectomy,a boob job and a sex change operation...and you want more?

If Hamill is not contractually obligated to return then I'm sure he'll refuse unless JJ goes out his way to change the character back to Hamill's liking which I think would be too bad. But as I've said before TLJ is a fitting end and jumping off point for me if they screw anything up later. Of course I'm well aware that others feel the exact opposite.

But yes my favorite parts of TLJ were Snoke's throne room, all of Luke's island scenes, and then of course his showdown with Kylo.

On a completely unrelated note I'm finding myself actually looking forward to "Solo" as it will be nice to have a SW film where I don't care about spoilers, trailers, TV spots, etc.

Here's a serious question; for people who didn't like Leia flying in space or Luke's astral projection what new Force powers would you have accepted? Anything? Or have you only ever allowed the Force to do nothing but lift things and manipulate weak minds?

Was Kylo's ability to put Rey to sleep an acceptable new power? Just genuinely curious as to what powers are okay and which ones are "too much."

I was always looking forward to seeing what the Jedi could *really* do when the PT came out and was disappointed that all we got was the lame one-and-done Force sprint in TPM.

The astral projection is fine and it makes sense because it involves concentration, maybe telepathy as well, but a little disappointing giving that was Luke's final moment and people expected more from him. I'm not sure what he could have done that was more impressive, but certainly not a saber fight. I never liked Yoda and Palpatine fighting with sabers. If anything an Astral battle a la Dr. Strange or a telepathic battle like Xavier vs Apocalypse would be more fitting for masters like Yoda and Palpatine.

As far as "new" Jedi abilities, it's difficult to say what would be acceptable giving that the previous films have been very consistent and we have seen the most knowledgeable and capable force users already...the biggest masters, Yoda and Palpatine, so anything that deviates too much from the core force abilities can come across as strange or out of place. Yoda and Palpatine are the most experienced and strongest force users in the movie canon, yet their abilities have limits. Imagine if all of a sudden Rey can freeze things or have x ray vision? :lol Sure, you could say, well the force can make it possible, but then the force just becomes magic like Harry Potter or Dr Strange, without any real boundaries. I don't want the Jedi and Sith to become Green Lanterns, capable of doing anything they can imagine because the plot demands it.

I wouldn't mind seeing energy projection like in Dragon Ball Z. And I don't mean force lightning, I mean energy blasts with their hands. It would makes sense, in DBZ they have the KI which is a life force in all living things, inspired by real martial arts teachings like Tai chi , but basically it's similar to what the force is in SW.

Agreed on the prequel underwhelming powers observation. I'm not even bothered by luke projection. In regards to the space flight scene, I'm not even really bothered by Leia floating directionally. However, the defrosting part is a little much for me.

The real problem is I don't recall Leia ever using the force at all, even in ESB it's luke making the long distance call to her on bespin. The only other example I can think of is her "feeling" luke survived the death star explosion.

There are many examples of inconsistent force power use especially the prequels.

It just looks like there is a nice division of powers in the OT. luke is just learning to feel the force, he can only lift small things, darth Vader can throw an entire room. So at that point it makes sense where these characters are and what they can do. Yoda can move an x wing, but looks like he is putting a lot of effort into it.

The defrosting force ability though, I'm just trying to imagine how Leia would even know how to do this. Maybe luke learned it in the tauntaun on hoth. Its just a little too magical for me.

Excellent post.

Rey is even better than Iron Fist lol

Agreed though I'd probably lean toward TLJ being as close to a "1980 experience" as my kids are ever going to get. They were just as blown away as I was.

Me,WorGar,Spazz, and millions were blown away too

Yeah my son didn’t get his 77 moment from TFA he was just too young and distracted.

Now holy smoke his eyes and mouth were wide open and I loved seeing him laugh at the humor.

I can feel the conflict within each new post. Even now, he admits fhat this piece of **** movie has damaged the brand's reputation.

It's only been 8 days and he's showing signs of cracking. Soon he'll be on our side.

Figured that no initial lovey dovey, long winded post-viewing post was a good sign that Jye really felt mixed about it.

And to think, I was going to replace Jye with Adolfo. Thata boy Jye, thata boy.

Welcome home boy!!!
