Well if the director says there is not agenda behind the film I will take him at his word... But that still leaves us with a bad script with bad plots that go nowhere.. I mean I get what they were trying to do.. But they just did it in the worst, most uneventful ways. For me anyways.. But of course that is great if you liked its story.

I do look forward to watching this on Blu ray so I can look at some of the cool space battles and the Hyper-Suicide.

Its hard for me not to find some enjoyment out of a Star Wars film and this will be worth repeat viewing for Kylo... I can also speed past all Finn, Rose, and most of Poe subplots

Fun talking about this with you Khev.. Glad you were here to defend this movie.. No matter how obviously mistaken you are about the whole thing

I would say Jye has been fun to discuss this film also but I know he Really does hate it..

As for Episode 9... I can't believe I am saying this but I am glad JJ is back.. I would be really upset if Johnson was coming back.. But something tells me even if he was he would try a bit harder with the script..

Like we have all said before.. This series truly ended with ROTJ.. Everything else is "I don't know.. Like something out of a bad dream"

All of the rose plot line. Perfect example, han slays a ton ton in half and then you get this movie and they are pro animal rights, oh Hey i feel soo much better removing this saddle and her speech about how she hates the whole place where GOOD AND BAD guys make money. This movie is a huge political move like oh Hey everyone can be a jedi, that’s straight up democrats for you.

The tauntaun was already dead. But only because Han had ridden it beyond the point of exhaustion in order to save Luke.

Many animals suffered during the making of ESB. Two tauntauns died; a wampa lost its arm; and a space slug lost its dinner.

Balancing the books, however, a white capitalist drug smuggler had his assets frozen, and a black capitalist mining tycoon had his business taken away.

This was daring stuff at the beginning of a decade of movies where young guys start working in the post rooms of big companies and end up as top executives.

But things were about to get even more daring in the story of Star Wars. Come back next week to see a fat capitalist slug get strangled to death by his slave...

They needed to get off that planet with a proper diversion they didn’t go there to save children that wasn’t their mission.

So tell me which diversion works better when the police are surrounding you.

Freeing little slow kids or HUGE ANIMALS that are fast and going to cause destruction, chaos, give you proper cover AND also give you a ride out of the immediate danger zone!

Freeing the animals was a byproduct of the animals primary use.

I don’t remember them going to the planet with the primary mission being to free the slave children.

But that’s ok i’m sorry that Rose’s pro choice statement was bothersome to you.

Sure... suuuure if you take the movie at face value thats how it goes, but why did the writer even include that planet to behin with? Most people agree that if you erase the scenes in that planet the rest of the movie doesnt change too much.
Why was that plot so necessary for the movie? Please explain how this was so necessary for the sake of the story?
Or did they go out of their way to create an unnecessary part of the movie to push a message across?

I mean.... there was NOOO Other way to have a plot for finn and jar jar rose that didnt involve that ridiculous planet? Right?

Serious question.... I get the whole animal abuse thing.. But are those of you that are OK with it in this movie against Horse racing.. I mean I took it as a knock towards Horse racing and Chewie's Porg scene as a knock towards KFC

For the record.. I have some animal loving friends who's beliefs are so pro animal that they would say Luke should have died and the Tauntaun should have been allowed to live..

They have called me a speciesist before because I think Humans life is more important then a cat or dog..

Indeed, there is no contradiction between ESB and TLJ on that point.

Some people will find offence everywhere. Some people actively look for things to be offended by to give themselves a cause. Which is where political correctness and positive discrimination spring from. And you could take TLJ as raising that point: positive discrimination in the film means more women in power, even though that may mean a better qualified man being overlooked (and humiliated in the process). But by the end maybe lessons have been learned and a balance reached when Poe's merits are recognised.

I’m not an animal lover so I don’t give a crap I say grow and cook as many as you can lol

I have a client who spends $1,000 a week on cavier for her cat and her cat has access to better healthcare than me. It’s her money she can do whatever she wants with it i’m happy for her.

Umm what else yeah I don’t give a crap about horse racing but the Kentucky Derby is exciting to watch lol and like i’ve said before i’m pissed at Kennedy for bringing this crap further into a SW movie but at the end of the day they needed a diversion and those animals worked perfect for the scene regardless if it also meant Rose was happy to free them because the end result was the same it was an appropriate diversion to escape.
