Serious question.... I get the whole animal abuse thing.. But are those of you that are OK with it in this movie against Horse racing.. I mean I took it as a knock towards Horse racing and Chewie's Porg scene as a knock towards KFC


I don't care much about Horse racing and they can get rid of it for all I care.. BUT like I have said from the beginning... I don't like being preached at..


For the record.. I have some animal loving friends who's beliefs are so pro animal that they would say Luke should have died and the Tauntaun should have been allowed to live..

They have called me a speciesist before because I think Humans life is more important then a cat or dog..

Examples of animal abuse in star wars that should greatly offend Rose fans:

This is abuse
This is animal cruelty
This is not ok!

Indeed, there is no contradiction between ESB and TLJ on that point.

Some people will find offence everywhere. Some people actively look for things to be offended by to give themselves a cause. Which is where political correctness and positive discrimination spring from. And you could take TLJ as raising that point: positive discrimination in the film means more women in power, even though that may mean a better qualified man being overlooked (and humiliated in the process). But by the end maybe lessons have been learned and a balance reached when Poe's merits are recognised.

Your last sentence is very critical towards this whole women of power emasculating men.

I’ll say this again and it fits into your last sentence.

Holdo died recognizing that Poe was the true spark and leader the rebellion needed to get the job done, she died so the man could rise and lead.

But everyone focusses on a woman putting a man in his place in a prior scene.

Holdo died recognizing that Poe was the true spark and leader the rebellion needed to get the job done, she died so the man could rise and lead.

But everyone focusses on a woman putting a man in his place in a prior scene.

Holdo wasnt needed either. The character was pointless. Her whole arc is pointless.
Both rose and holdo are unnecessary and pointless and they took the place of other established characters that could have done what they did

I understand the diversion part. But Rose is what ruins the entire thing with her idiotic attitude.
If this was finn and poe and they just cared about the distraction then that would be fine. But they gave us Rose Rose Binks to muddle up the story with her BS

Even if Rose was NOT into protecting animals they would’ve still needed to free those animals to cause the diversion, the cover and use it as their ride out of there while knocking the cops over. They certaibly weren’t going to knock over 5 cops with the slave children.

So regardless if Rose is preaching about being an animal lover or not the end result is the same.

Animals would have needed to be freed and NOT the children which was your main gripe in your never ending desire to be ****ing miserable and paranoid about life all the damn time lol

I have a client who spends $1,000 a week on cavier for her cat and her cat has access to better healthcare than me. It’s her money she can do whatever she wants with it i’m happy for her.

Umm what else yeah I don’t give a crap about horse racing but the Kentucky Derby is exciting to watch lol and like i’ve said before i’m pissed at Kennedy for bringing this crap further into a SW movie but at the end of the day they needed a diversion and those animals worked perfect for the scene regardless if it also meant Rose was happy to free them because the end result was the same it was an appropriate diversion to escape.

What if this movie was did not have the agenda we thought it had but an entirely different one ???

Perhaps we are not meant to like Rose.. She is after all part of the plan that lead to the deaths of many rebels on escape pods. She almost killed the rest of the rebellion by stopping Finn from destroying the mini death star.. She sexually assaulted Finn... Hell in the very beginning she zapped him to keep him from finding Rey to warn her if the problems with the rebellion... Perhaps she was the one who wanted Del Toro to know the escape pods were leaving..

Then there is Dern McPurple who could not get in touch with her emotions and decided to go all secretive on Poe because she was holding a school girl grudge.. Thus leading to the death of many rebels because of this inability to forgive and forget..

Perhaps Porgs are filled with the Dark side leading Luke to despair and frustration and ultimately killing him at the very end.

The last sentence was to imply that maybe the resistance would move ahead based on meritocracy. People given positions based on merit, rather than gender or race.

This is better than positive discrimination, as long as it remains truly fair and open to all.

So, as you suggest, the film can be read on the lines that the ultra pro-feminist (women first) approach was tried, but was in the end abandoned in place of gender equality.
