The Clown Prince of Crime
Super Freak
Yes.
And remember, most of these characters only have a single movie to their name. Everyone from Qui-Gon to Jyn are expendable.
But Han Solo and Luke Skywalker!? The had 4-5 films. That was not a proper send off to Luke. **** doesn't even make sense. After decompressing himself and sitting up straight relaxing, he just . . . dies? It's so stupid. That's not even taking account how lame the whole force projection **** is. How does it even work? I mean, doesn't Luke have to concentrate to project an image of himself across the galaxy? How come the Falcon dice in Kylo's hands disappear and vanish after Luke dies? Shouldn't those have faded away the moment he passed?
It's stupid.
Yup.
And the whole thing with Kylo and letting the First Order get powerful is his fault. He just gave up and let everyone else clean up after him.
I mean, I'm sure he'll show up as a force ghost or some contrived and cheesy BS, but they really squandered his character for one last outing. Could have done some great **** with him for one or two movies. The build up with the map and 2 year wait certainly wasn't worth it.
There seems to be two POV when it comes to Luke in the ST.
1. He's leaving a lot of unfinished business that he is directly involved and maybe even responsible for, and letting others continue the good fight.
or
2. He's inspiring a new generation by sacrificing himself like uncle Ben did in ANH.
I think there are more effective ways to show Luke inspiring a new generation though. However, another difference between Logan and Luke, is that the Logan film IS about Logan and his story, while the new SW franchise isn't really about Luke, but rather setting up the next film and the new characters, but in doing so, they directly involved Luke and made him the central focus of TFA, and one of the main reasons why Kylo becomes a villain, and ultimately Luke doesn't get to save the day...and that's where the disappointment comes in. They made him more like Uncle Ben, but it's easier to accept Ben going out the way he did because he was never the main character, but Luke being the protagonist and doing the same thing, feels a bit anticlimactic for the character.
