Re: Stranger Things (netflix show)

Lol yup. Also i'm getting sick of this 80s trend. Seems like everyone is damn fascinated by the 80s recently and every movie and tv show is trying to be all 80s. But yea the monsters I never saw as a threat in this show nor did they look appealing. Also the kids can be rather annoying at times.

The creatures on this show are embarrassingly bad, like syfy bad.

Cgi dogs and vines yikes.

Yea that last one....whatever it was...was just stupid looking. Like some sorta flower with arms and legs.

They’re trying to create a The Thing type monster but also keep it family friendly for Netflix and it’s just not working.

11 and 8 should’ve been in Logan lol

Re: Stranger Things (netflix show)

Anyone catch the Gremlins theme callback in the Pollywog episode? It wasn't the actual theme but they used the same synth sound, with a similar syncopation. Thought that was pretty neat.

Its at the part where Dart sprouts legs and escapes

Re: Stranger Things (netflix show)

So would a white girl really be kissing a black kid in Indiana in 1984 in a small town middle school dance no less. .

You probably still can’t even do that today in Indiana lol

Sure she would. Max was from CA anyway...plus the Cosby show just premiered like a month earlier. So it was all good...:lol

:lol

Well I did like the song choices that were made and it did a grest job at capturing that time period better than most who have tried.

Oh well shame there wasn’t a good villain.

Billy was the most engaging to watch for me he was the standout performer of the bunch.

Re: Stranger Things (netflix show)

Ok Jye, we get it. You don't like the show. Or little white girls kissing black boys for some reason. Your lack of taste on both counts is noted.

I liked the Mind Flayer as the malevolent cosmic horror. But, they need to broaden it's scope of power. I think the pumpkin body count was higher than anything :Lol

I liked the Demodogs. They reminded me of lickers from Resident Evil, so I was cool with them. Of course...I wish we got a few practical moments...alas

The red ranger was a great villain. ****ing *******, enjoyed every scene he was in though :lol

We need Jye's contrarian points, or else the conversation gets boring and turns into "omg remember this scene..haha and that scene... remember this 80's reference in this episode" herdy heeeerrr!!!

That's a summation of almost all my in person conversations about this show :lol

I swear I don’t have a problem with that scenario I was just simply pointing out the historical accuracy of that sceario taking place in an Indiana middle school in 1984 involving kids, very unlikely. I don’t even think that was socially acceptable in NYC circa 1980 it was definately frowned upon so can you imagine Indiana.

If you need proof that I don’t mind that scenario though I can show you pictures of my black cat who is dating my neighbors white cat.

lol @ pumpkin fatality rate

I thought Red Ranger was hitting on Steve during the shower scene lol

Re: Stranger Things (netflix show)

So in ST3 the Mind Flayer will possess Billy who will then come out of the closet with his raging heavy metal fueled man lust.

Kevin Spacey can play the gym teacher.

Well at least I know how Spacey got the Lex Luthor part now lol

Oh he was. There's some sexual tension there...and you can bet somewhere in depths of the internet...someone is creating fanart right now :lol

Kevin Spacey is toast. Rose Mcgowan is his own personal Mind flayer....

Re: Stranger Things (netflix show)

My wife kept rewinding to his scenes I was like sorry honey but he likes Steve. :lol

You're in trouble if she accidentally calls you Ted :lol

I like ST, but it's too overrated, it needs to be brought down to reality and Jye is the one to do it.

The show is fine...but it's one of those shows that has a really annoying fan base. they blow everything up into "ZOMG" town and...SHIPS! SHIPS EVERYWHERE!

Eh, I believe you don't have a problem with it. But said kissing was not unheard of, and though in lots of cases (at the time) some people might have been douches, I like to think maybe this was one of those times people weren't. I haven't finished season 2 yet so I can't comment on the villains but season 1 was fine to me. The real villains were the corporation types that put more importance on the company than in human lives.
