Season 2 though... has the lost sister episode which I think tarnished it a bit. I really didn't like that bit of world building. It felt like a waste, it diluted the story as well as the character of Eleven, and killed the momentum set up by the episode before it. On repeat viewings I will likely skip this episode. It just felt like it was going into Heroes territory...and it left a bad taste in my mouth. The one moment I liked about it was "I can save them" but I think that's because it was steeped in a sense of "finally, get your ass back to Hawkins, girl"
I really hope Season 3 doesn't devolve into getting a team of special kids together to defeat the Mind Flayer...bleeeeegh
That episode was totally unnecessary. I read an article that thought that episode may have been testing the waters for a 008 spinoff, but there has been enough backlash that it's likely that wouldn't happen now.
There's also a chance that 008 may come back to help 011 next season if she needs it since she barely had enough power to close the gate by herself.
Then Eleven can go all rage mode again and do her thing.
Ugh spinoffs. I would likely avoid that completely.
If 008 comes back I hope the Mind Flayer uses his namesake and literally flays her mind. She can attempt to use her little hallucination power and he can just turn it back on her and pop her head.
There's your problem, GoT isn't a perfect show by any stretch of the imagination, I love GoT, but it's not perfect, and this is one or 2 notches below GoT.
