Yessss, set in the 90's for maximum awfulness .Watching king shark made me want a street sharks movie.
Damn millennials! That's a lot to read. It's like a whole page. Can you summarize it or something?
Thanks. You should be Zack Snyder's film editor.Damn millennials!
Essentially Snyders and Roven are producers on almost any movie stemming from Man of Steel/BVS/JL/SS.
Who says I'm not? Thanks. You should be Zack Snyder's film editor.
Lol yes. Make it extreme!!! Make it radical ! Go full on 90s!Yessss, set in the 90's for maximum awfulness .
Disastrous? Silly fanboys. It made $26.5M more than ZSJL made in theaters on its opening weekend.Snyder fans are now mocking WB for this absolutely disastrous opening saying this is what happens when you trade Class (Snyder) for Trash (Gunn).
They’re asking WB why they interfered so much with Snyder but left Jenkins and Gunn alone.
ZSJL was in theaters? I don't remember that at all, i thought that it was HBO Max exclusive OoDisastrous? Silly fanboys. It made $26.5M more than ZSJL made in theaters on its opening weekend.

Lol they aren’t building up to anything cause they don’t know how. If they do darksied they’d be giving in to the Snyder cult and they don’t want that so they are doing this multiverse thing where anything goesIs DC still building up towards Darkseid or was that his big moment
I honestly don’t think DC even knows who they want for their central villain.
Is it Peacemaker lol
Lol it’s funny how Milton stick around for so long. He literally didn’t have to. He even was loading a gun.Watched this again last night despite initially claiming it'd be a one and done, lol.
Man it's such a mixed bag that starts and ends so well. I really do love the opening as well as the entire last 30 minutes or so so both viewings have ended on quite the high note for me.
Some random thoughts:
1. Despite Harley Quinn being the best element of SS (2016) she really is the worst element of this one. That voice and those lines, ugh. So much so that I found myself watching the team in the strip club downing drinks and dancing and thinking "why is this part so much more appealing than earlier parts of the movie? Oh yeah, NO HARLEY QUINN."
Thank God she barely speaks once Starro is let loose, it allows me to enjoy her a lot more. But then once he's dead she starts in on Bloodsport about how she thought his name was "Milton" and groan I just can't help but roll my eyes all over again. Stupid unfunny joke that goes on way too long. Fortunately it then cuts to Weasel and that idiotic run he does on the beach which makes me smile again right before the credits, lol.
I did like Harley's breakout scene but once the little cartoons started flying around and shooting out of the bad guys it also hit me that Gunn was basically pulling a "Kill Bill" with that sequence. Which then immediately left me realizing how much better the entire film would have been (ESPECIALLY the dialogue!!!!) had it been directed by QT. The attack on the freedom fighter camp already felt like something out of Django Unchained and then Harley's escape would have been that much better.
Gunn should have really leaned into the animated bits even more IMO, maybe even having when Harley enters that final hall with the M-16's show her heightened state of crazy by having her completely transform into her 90's animated self for a bit. That could have been a fun homage to TAS while evoking humor as we watch Bruce Timm Harley slicing and dicing her way through live-action goons in gory fashion. Anyway I could have totally seen QT doing something like that though I suppose if he were in charge the film would have probably lost its sentimental bits which I do admit are some of my favorite moments of the film. (I'm a sucker for dad/daughter hero moments and can't really think of anything approaching that in any QT flick.)
2. I remember the first time watching this when Ratcatcher was shaking King Shark's hand in the camp and she was looking at Bloodsport smiling with pride I completely expected Gunn to shock us by having KS do something gross like rip her arm off or bite off her head. So nice subverting of expectations there, lol.
3. Polka-Dot Man is an awesome character and I still lol'd at his mom appearing everywhere as the team in the forest, the girls dancing around him, and then of course Starro at the end. An awesome joke that was used just the right amount of times for maximum entertainment without wearing thin.
4. Despite the inherent silliness of his costume John Cena really made for an awesome visual in his super colorful outfit.
5. Ratcatcher's likability is one of the cornerstone's of the entire movie. If she failed or was abrasive in any way then so much of the film's redeeming sentimental value would have fallen flat. As it stood she was the emotional glue that held up not only her own story but KS and much of Bloodsport's as well.
6. The fight to the death between Peacemaker and Flagg was awesome (LOVED the bit where you watch them duke it out in the reflection of PM's helmet) as was the showdown between PM and Bloodsport. The "smaller bullet" gag was nicely done.
7. I just love every moment that Starro and mini-Starros were on screen. Though I'm not sure how the bad guys ever thought he'd take down entire countries considering his little mini-Starros aren't self-replicating. The "what the actual f***" from the guy on the balcony when Starro emerged was hilarious, lol. I also liked how they even made you feel a little sorry for him with that bit at the end about him having been happy just floating in space.
8. Going back to Harley for a second her opening outfit was so freaking cool! WHY did she have to change it so quickly???? Also I wish they wrote into her character that a byproduct of her mental illness was that whenever she'd "snap" it would somehow cause super doses of adrenaline to rush through her system, *something* to explain her prolonged strength and hardiness against waves of full grown men.
9. I just read an interview where Gunn said that he and WB thought that they might be "going too far" with the team wasting the camp of friendly freedom fighters so he added the bit where Waller orders them to attack. The problem is that didn't really jive with Flagg's declaration that they are all a bunch of "f***ing idiots." They were under direct orders to wipe out the camp with extreme prejudice AND they had bombs in their heads if they refused so it's not like they had much of a choice.
10. I found it interesting that the story's anti-America rhetoric included both Republican and Democratic administrations of the last 30 years. You don't see that every day and while I think the last thing audiences need right now is more "America is bad" bullcrap at least it was an equal opportunity offender against both political parties, lol.
11. The jokes. For the most part they were just SO bad...and I think the worst part wasn't just that they were bad but that they were clearly written as if each one would bring down the house. Ugh. I did laugh out loud maybe two or three times but as of right now I can't remember which specific lines, lol. A lot of times it seemed like something funny would happen (TDK stupidly slapping armed bad guys from a distance, lol) but then it'd be ruined by Harley having to open her mouth and comment on it.
12. The "Milton" bit with him tagging along and getting killed seemed like a direct ripoff of "Peter" from Deadpool 2's X-Force team.
13. Opening the film with a squad of total canon fodder (complete with Flagg, Harley, and Boomerang in order to make us assume they weren't) was definitely a stroke of genius.
14. Bloodsport dishing out commands at the end ("Harley take the high ground, KS that is num num, Polka-Dot that's your mother," etc.) played as kind of a bizarro world version of Cap issuing orders against the Chitauri, lol.
Would rather DC make another Suicide Squad film. Ratcatcher 2 and Polka-Dot were the standout characters for me - I'd never heard of them before TSS. There must be hundreds of random characters like that they can put in future films.Lol they aren’t building up to anything cause they don’t know how. If they do darksied they’d be giving in to the Snyder cult and they don’t want that so they are doing this multiverse thing where anything goes
