I don't care if Hulk was holding his breath. A kick from a mortal/puny human is going to be like a fly landing on you or me.

So yeah. It's dumb.

Batman is peak human. He was also shown splitting a tree in half with a kick in Year One. So, well placed kick to a Hulk who is tying to hold his breath is believable.

Ah, comics :dunno :lol

It's quite strange how Batman's supposed to be peak human, and Captain America is too, yet Captain America is definitely stronger :lol. So....who's really peak human???

Captain America uses the Super Soldier stuff for his power. Batman has no super powers or super soldier steroids.

batman gassed him & hulk was trying to hold his breath. kick to the stomach = hulk has to gasp which means breathing in the gas :dunno

I have no skin in this game whatsoever, but I'd have to agree that a kick in the gut by Batman would not work. On me, yes. The Hulk, no.

I would imagine it would be akin to kicking a concrete wall. One's leg would give first before the wall being damaged. I don't buy this comic writer's solution to Batman winning there. It's the Hulk.

BTW, I love this thread!! Great debate. I actually go back and forth with each person's reasonings. I actually don't think it should be resolved. They're both powerful beings that are the strongest in their respective universes and this is almost no different than what came first, the chicken or the egg?

but then again, this crossover was done in the 70's, so power levels weren't so high

Or.........picture this scenario

1) Mr Banner changes into Hulk
2) Superman flies into space and flies anti-clockwise around earth at super speed thus reversing time
3) Hulk reverses transformation back into Mr Banner
4) Superman pokes Banner with his pinky finger and he is KO

:rock2:rock2

Applying logic to a comic hero fight is like applying logic to a WWE wrestling match.

The only thing that matters is who is doing the writting.

Was Banner's change into Hulk what precipitated Superman's travel back in time?

If so, Superman would travel back in time to prevent Banner from changing by the pinky KO, thus Banner never changes into Hulk, therefore Superman never has a reason to travel back in time.

So...

1) Banner changes into Hulk
2) Superman travels back in time to prevent the change
3) Superman prevents change in past, thus negating him having traveled there to stop the change which never took place
4) Banner changes into Hulk

Woah....This is like so.........."inception", similar to a double dream theory. I'll go triple but finish in one point.

1) Superman travels back in time to stop Brian Banner and Hulk's would be mother from making love. Hulk is never born. Superman wins. HAHAHAHAAHAHA

i dont know why there are 22 pages of this.

Superman can easily match the strength/toughness of hulk, is more agile, can shoot lasers from his eyes, can fly, and can think clearly & intelligently instead of a raging lunatic, and doesnt need to become angry to gain his power.

Why is there even a discussion? a more appropriate comparison would be superman vs thor. Although Hulk is very popular figure, he's just cannon fodder compared to those two in term of actual power.

Here's a spanner in the works: Thor vs. Superman?

Thor is one of my likeable char but its already been proven. In animation Hulk beat Thor. I am sure there's a comics version too. Anyway, in comic, Red Hulk already beaten Thor on the moon. Thor just seem outdated godlings now. Asgardian lost their home and operated upon by Doom. We'll see how the current arc with Hulk as he allowed himself to be cut open by Doom too.

I'm not up to date on the charaters, I stopped buying comics when the X-Men started fighting vampires. Couldn't Superman just do a super speed fly by grab Hulk and under a nanosecond throw his big ass into space? I know Hulks more powerful but if he doesn't have time to react then does that power matter? Yes he gets stronger with rage but would Supes give him time to rage? To me this fight comes down to speed, how would he even be able to put a hand on Superman?

This thread is awesome if for no other reason than the people on both sides getting butt hurt. :lol
