Just FYI, Z is getting back from what is in my opinion a well deserved holiday. He'll begin the Supernatural sculpts very soon. Z is a man of honor, let's respect not only his talent but also that he is allowing us to create some impressive customs.

(A-hem--->cough<--- not anymore! Read a few posts back!) Morbach contacted him. Took Z out of it. Too long without updates so we got someone else to do it who's already begun to work on them for us.

It was time we got this commission fast tracked that had been languishing since Howes, foot and pedal to the floor. I didn't want to end up getting these in Supernaturals last season when no one cared anymore.

Damn, I gotta pay more attention, thanks WST

if Z's out then I'm sorry, I have to pull out of this project. I just prefer his work & he's earned my loyalty

Why would you do that? I'm extremely interested to see the sculpting abilities of the new artist. Surely he deserves enough respect that you should at leat see his final artwork before making any judgment, especially seeing as Z didn't even get that far. I know I have my fingers crossed that these sculpts turn out extrodinary, although I'm trying to not get my hopes up too high. Does anyone have some links to pictures of Howes sculpting prowess? I'd be very interested to see.

I can't believe that Spook didn't post these in this thread. Anyone who hasn't seen them is missing out.

It's not that I want to throw any disrespect at any other sculptor, hell no. Hey, I haven't seen anything on this forum that I would criticize. There are folks of various skills all learning from one another, that's why I love this.

I just know that Z has a style I prefer as far as painting up. His refinement makes painting a joy. You don't have to force the piece to look accurate. Just a preference.

Dying for any hint of progress or news.

I can tell you the sculptor is juggling a few different projects right now at once, one of which are the Winchester boys, the other being Doctor Who and he is doing them all at once so they might not be done in a week but it shouldn't be three months away either.

He's been gathering more reference for all on top of the pics I sent and the certain specifications I asked for and he was very happy/impressed with the specific ref I sent. He watched the pilot the night he accepted the commission because he never watched the show and really enjoyed it. He asked what season to screen-grab further ref from and I said S3/S4.

I'll tell you more when I know more! I talk to him all the time. :banana:banana

Sweet, I'm glad to hear that the artist is also a fellow fan of the series. I'd be very interested to see the source / reference material that you sent to him, as it would undoubtably give us ultimate insight as to the final look of the sculpts. Also I know you wouldn't have commisioned an artist without first seeing the quality of his craftsmanship, were there any specific pieces of his work that influence you greatly in you decision to hand over the reigns of the commission from Z? if so I'd really like to see them, as I have been unable to source any of his work.

PUDDING!!!!

lloooks great...loving the punisher off topic XD...sam and dean looks spot on how much does he usually charge for painted HS?

To me the test is looking at an unpainted sculpt and seeing if I immediately recognize who it is. In this case, no. As much as I'd like to, I'm afraid I'm not feeling these at all. There is something really weird about the necks and something about the faces isn't quite right. With Dean I think the nose is too big and the shape of his face is too small. The Sam needs to be more massive. He's got a great big Neanderthal skull and I'm not seeing that in this sculpt. They are really well done, I just don't think they accurately capture who they are supposed to be. So I am going to wait for WST's sculptor or just stick with my Ada heads.

Well, I certainly didn't see that coming. I was sure Z had either lost interest or gave up. I am sorry to say I agree entirely with Death of Duck's dealing of doom. The sculpts although being masterfully crafted, bear little to no resemblance to either Jensen or Jared. There are apparent similarities, however not enough to merit my personal approval. It seems as if they were somewhat rushed, also they appear to me to bear striking resemblance in facial structure to Asian men rather than Caucasian. I guess my anticipation is best saved for Morbac's new sculptor, unless the sculpts appear differently with a excellent paintjob.

...Yeah, I'm definately going to some painted up before I can strike the final blow. The sculpts may bear more resemblance in person. Otherwise I'd be greatly interested to hear others' opinions on the sculpts.

Same here. Sam's about right (though inferior to Ada's) but Dean is not. It seems that the guy is hard to sculpt. Ada failed, and now Z.
I guess I'll have to try and sculpt my own Dean in the end, but I'll probably fail, like the other's... :(

I've been reviewing the many angle shots of the Jensen sculpt and have to say it's pretty damn close. I'd say the main let down was the hair sculpting, also I think he'd benefit from more sunkern cheeks or more pronounced cheek bones. Also I think that both sculpts are missing any expression, I realise that'd be incredibly difficult to sculpt these let alone add any kind of expression but I feel that is what's lacking. I'm afraid to say the Jared sculpt was a bit of a hit and miss alltogether. I'll be eagerly waiting to see what they look like painted up.

If anyone else struggled to find the gallery of shots of the sculpts here is a more direct link, saves the clicking finger some tedious work.
