Arwen's victory over Padme has given Lord of the Rings some nearly unstoppable momentum in our LOTR VS. Star Wars poll marathon. As we approach the finish line, Star Wars really needs to come out on top with this week's entry. (Posted on a Thursday since I will be out of town this weekend. Merry Christmas!)

Not strictly a hero, not strictly a villain, this secondary character has shifting allegiances--yet the consequences of his loyalty impact the story at a critical moment. Mysterious and highly dangerous, he comes from the shadowy underground and upsets the balance of power when he appears by surprise in a majestic city that the heroes thought would be safe--but which turns out to be a battleground. Once he has played his part in seeing a debt fulfilled, he is ultimately blown away in the breeze and sinks into the ground, never to be seen or heard from again.

PAST POLL RESULTS:
1. Han Solo (39) VS. Aragorn (80)
2. Obi-Wan Kenobi (41) VS. Gandalf (62)
3. C-3PO & R2-D2 (44) VS. Merry & Pippin (42)
4. Luke (56) VS. Frodo (40)
5. Darth Maul (62) VS. Lurtz (28)
6. Chewbacca (41) VS. Gimli (44)
7. Count Dooku (19) VS. Saruman (65)
8. General Grievous (58) VS. Gothmog (29)
9. Princess Leia (26) VS. Legolas (39)
10. Darth Vader (61) VS. The Witch King (21)
11. Lando (23) VS. Boromir (52)
12. Mace Windu (38) VS. King Theoden (47)
13. Padme (45) VS. Arwen (53)

I would have to go with the King of the Dead. His people saved the day and left with honor.

Fett just took a Han that someone else froze to Jabba. Was punked by a blind guy, went screaming into the side of a boat and died with a burp joke.

I was going to go with Fett, but I think you are right EVILFACE. So I went with KOTD! :D

Yeah, KOTD big time. As was said above he and the rest of his dead people helped save ME. Fett didn't do much but just look cool.

The character of the King of the Dead did the right thing in the end and is after all a 'good guy'. Boba Fett is definitely up there in terms of coolness as a character although less so in substance. I have to admit, I thought Boba would win this pole going away. It wasn't an easy choice for me but the Lord of the Rings fandom in me was the deciding factor.

While I like the King of the Dead, and I'm not a Fett nut like many SW fans. You still have to give it up to the gravely voiced bounty hunter!!!

Fett! Fett! Fett!

Sorry guys, but never could understand the fascination for Fett. Cool costume, but other than that, a pretty standard minor character serving Lucas' subplot line. Nothing special in character, acting, etc., for me to hook my allegience to.

Hmmm........Fett has more of a Cult-like following more than screen substance. He looks cool and the bounty hunter status is also great for imagination of his journeys. On the other hand, even though he wasn't my fav. character, the KOTD had more substance, story relevance, and had a cool appearance courtesy of Weta.......Have to think about this one.....

Fett easily.

Also he didn't die, read tales of the bounty hunters, he escapes the Sarlac.

Yeah, but these polls are based soley on the movies. He may win if books and novels are included, but based on the movies, he's an over-rated chump. Though a very cool looking, over-rated chump.

KOTD

Another mixed bag . . .

Fett hardly spoke. KOTD sure instilled some scare in his demeanor. KOTD sure looked more kickass, and would easily kick Fett's butt.

Had you made it Jango Fett which had more substance . . . not to mention the fact that Fett's face is in every freakin' clone out there . . .

I'll go with KOTD because Boba Fett was all pose and no substance. Too bad KOTD doesn't look as cool because of his decaying visage.
