If this is still easy to get around Christmas, I'll get one for myself for Christmas.
I thought the thread title gave that away.
Yes..
There's only a rather poor mock-up of R2, at the moment (should be able to find it by Googling for Tamashii R2, I think) but it's out of scale and with a somewhat polished dome. Believe Tamashii's looking to release R2 next year, so we have quite a wait before we get updated pics, I think.
Thanks for the info. So no word on a preorder date yet I assume.
You asked whether one was in the works - not up for order.I saw the title but have yet to find a Tamashii R2-D2 for sale from an etailer after doing a Google search. I don't see one on Sideshow's site either so if someone could enlighten me a bit, I would appreciate it.
Yeah, I vaguely remember something like that...I thought Tamashii had said that 3PO met their sales expectations and that R2 was a go, along with another SW figure (speculated by us to be Grievous). I'm sure I read that earlier in the thread, though can't recall the source...
Not even a confirmation that the project is still on-going and that R2 will in fact be released next year.

All good.A fair point. I should have been more accurate in my question.
Thanks, Vintij!Congrats Sol!!
Where'd you get yours from?
Don't think you'll be disappointed, Darth. It's a great figure. On a whim, just ordered it from Amazon, can't believe I actually did it! I just bought the medicom v2 one at Christmas, but the price on Amazon was too good. The madness!
Hope we see an R2 soon.
Thanks, Vintij!
I had it on flex for the last few months from Sideshow, so I was getting paranoid that they'd ship me a previously returned one since they're no longer offering replacements. Thankfully that doesn't appear to be the case or I just got lucky. Fantastic figure, though. Couldn't be happier with it.

Yep. Think VASith paid $330.00 (if I saw that correctly in the other thread), and it seemed the average new price I saw on Amazon was $350.00.Are prices still $325+ for this?
It's a crap shoot, for sure. I've been pretty lucky, so far, though. Haven't had to return anything I've bought from BBTS or Sideshow.Cool.
As I've said before, so glad I got in early. However, it's stupid that one has to employ that kind of mentality to hopefully secure a QC free piece. Edition sizes aside - who knows what the ****ers are going to send you at the end of the day.
Saw you were kind of debating whether to pull the trigger, so glad you did. The detail, weight and overall quality of this figure don't disappoint. Also really liked the contrast between the silver lower leg and rest of the body being gold. Stood out to me more in-hand than I got through pictures.Just got one from amazon. Didn't want to wait too long and miss out
Agreed and thanks, Lejuan! I had some trepidation unboxing, as I'd prepared myself for possible QC issues, but everything was perfect from the way Sideshow packed it (looked like a pack-out, to me, but they didn't charge for it), to the packaging and the figure itself. Sadly, it's already boxed-up (removed batteries after testing the lights - man, did they do a nice job with the eye details and even with them off, he doesn't look like he has 'dead eyes', which I was kinda worried about from some of the early pictures) and in storage until we finally move. You lucky sod! Congrats Invictus, there's nothing like unboxing a QC-free figure that you've paid a motzah for and has presented issues for some. Nice work!
