Hang on, Sol. You haven't yet done the mod? You could have a perfectly eye-tinted C-3P0 staring back at you...
Haha, couldn't bring myself to do it until we're in the new place. Until then, I've got this thread.
Looking forward to unboxing 3PO and experimenting with the gels, though. I will be sure to post pics once he's ready for display. Hopefully will have a Tamashii R2, by that point.
Finally have my C3PO w/ R2. Thanks to PJB for the color gels, I truly appreciate it man. What a great figure. Gets me excited for the Diecast Hot Toys Robo Cop...
Great pics, qbomb, and nice display case, too. The two of them work great in that space. Agreed about RoboCop. I've always liked the movie, but I think if they hadn't knocked it out of the park the way they did with the prototype (and releasing it simultaneously with ED-209), I would've been OK without having it. Once I saw the high res pics of both of them, though, I was onboard. Still a little sceptical of die-cast, to be honest, though I get why collectors like the weight. Just hope we don't start seeing weird things 4 or 5 years down the road with the metal.
I've seen ALOT of these showing up on the for sale threads recently... what gives?
Yeah, I always wonder when I see those threads why they're selling. I guess I could see a bit of buyer's remorse due to the high price tag, but personally I couldn't be happier with it.
Well. Thanks everyone. This thread single handedly tipped the balance and convinced me to buy 3PO. I have actually managed to pay less for Sideshow Life sized busts (and that is still with buying him from Amazon. . . Got a great deal on the 501st Clone bust a while back). All that to say that I wait with baited breath for his arrival this Tuesday. While I wait I will reflect on how I got to a place where a 6th scale figure would merit almost $400.
It all started with the Hasbro $30 dolls. And the more expensive taun tauns, wampa and Dewback (at the time over $100 for a figure seemed nuts). Then Sideshow took over that scale. I remember thinking Kit Fisto was a stretch at around $80 - but I got him and was hooked on Sideshow. . .. Then came a who whack of premium format and life sized stuff that all of a sudden needed to be in my collection. . . And then Jabba happened (throne, HIC etc) along with the STAP, a Dewback and an e-web that seemed pricey. .. add a recent Vader presale for $250 and voila. This thread finally cracked me. Sorry for the long wonded account guys. . . I just really feel I need to document this somewhere so I can go back and read it someday to get context. It will likely happen when a $2000 sixth scale item hits and I buy it. Probably an ultra deluxe version of a landspeeder or something. . . .anyhow - I hope to love this figure on the way many of you have described, but still can't believe I took the plunge!
Hope when it arrives it's flawless, CDN. I think many of us can relate to your progression from Hasbro to SSC/HT and Tamashii. I was stunned at the price, too, when it was first announced but the quality and detail won me over. Having it in-hand is a pretty special feeling and it's probably the last piece I'd want to give up. Looking forward to your impressions of it.
