Here is the Tamashii 3PO with the Taito R2 clock:

Lookin' good. I need to get me one of those Taito clocks.

It really makes a perfect companion. I would even go as far to say that I would be happy with it if a Tamashii version were to never release. It has its flaws, but on display it looks perfect. It also looks much better scale wise than the hasbro versions.

How about simple pure elbow grease? That means nothing but a lint-free soft cloth, time and effort. ;)

3 Different cloths - glasses and smartphone as well as an expensive car cloth and 3 CSI shows worth of rubbing...there doesn't seem to be a shine ...but I notice in pic in this thread...the shine is a little dull...it is not reflective....it is the figure.

He doesn't look that small. R2 nearly comes up Threepios elbow when standing straight up on the two side legs. Looks Luke he could do that here. Don't okiw about the width. Can someone post some screen caps?

Here is a video I've never seen, R2 looks amazing...

Unfortunately we can't properly tell scale from that video. The camera person should be punched in the throat. But we do know it was from 2012 - useless I'm afraid. Even 3PO was in pre-production state.

Anyone tried emailing then? I can't get their webpage to fully translate, so not sure what button to click.
Hadn't seen that video, but the scaling looks similar to the Taito, though the image is really blurry. Blue boxes on the dome still look applied versus embossed, which I assume they'd do, but who knows. Sigh! Tired of waiting....

I don't know, when I look at the PF droids, I think they nailed the scale. Tamashii R2 looks anemic in the photo. Height wise, the top of R2's shoulder should be level with the bottom of C-3PO's "bits and pieces." Its not off by much, but if they fix it, it WILL be the perfect model.

The link to the photo was what I was looking at for scale. Hopefully the delay is a total rework on R2's size. I can wait for perfection, though an update would be nice.

I don't want an R2 with multiple accessories either, just a correct scale figure that matches Threepio's quality and I'll be happy.

C-3PO was expensive but nothing comes close to it's quality, I have no regrets buying it.

Just spoke to a rep here at nycc. Says tamashii wants to release r2 on their own, not with sideshow. So it's "on hold" til they can do that. :(

That means it may never come out, because they'll have to obtain their own licensing. Seems an odd decision, especially considering that distribution will also be a greater challenge without SSC.

Brutal. Didn't think their little partnership would fall apart after just one figure. :( Hopefully Tamashii had something solid that gave them the confidence to pull the plug on their project with SSC. Otherwise it doesn't bode well for ever seeing an R2 of the same quality as 3PO.

:lecture This bit of info has me worried.

I was looking forward to an R2 with the same amount of details and attention they gave to 3PO.

Maybe the rep is misinformed?
Though, when you have a product that SS sells for $400, and then it's globally distributed, even on Amazon for less than $300, maybe SS said WTF, go pound sand, because they really got burned in the whole deal MSRP wise. I would guess maybe Tomashii undercut to other distributors, while SS bore the original dealer cost?
Just speculation, but I had given it some thought as to why SS was so high and these other guys seem to be selling so low way after the item was suppose to be out of stock.
This news really sucks.
