So if this has been cancelled, I have to forget the idea of a 1989 Batwing in the future...

Damn you HT!

HT teases us to no end then backs out but offers some hope in a1/12 scale version? Puzzling to say the least. And totally goofy in my opinion. If companies like Sideshow, hell even Medicom with their 1 meter tall Evangelion statue, can send massive collectibles in giant boxes and crates to the four corners of the Earth, why can't Hot Toys?

Damn you HT!

They could still do the Batwing. It's a lot simpler design, more solid and does not have a lot of little pieces that could break.

They could have the wings removable and ship it in 3 or 4 pieces.

Howard is just bluffing.

If SS can sell and ship 1/1 endos, bobas etc, theres no reason why HT cant. I think hes just copying Bill and trying to be **** with us :lol

That's what doesn't make sense about this...it's doable. SSCs ships larger items all the time. So do prop companies. The question would be whether the target market would cough up the dough for it. Not sure I would or could.

But I would certainly try! :yess:

Because after building it they discovered its just too fragile to mass produce and would be a nightmare in quality control and would just overall cost too much. Talking several thousand dollars for this. People who think it would be under $1000 are dreaming:lol

to give people an idea of cost, this 1:6 WWII German Military vehicle is $787.99

I agree The Bat would probably be north of $1000 dollars for sure. It's just a huge piece and the production run would probably be under their normal run for vehicles.

I don't think replacement parts would be an issue. They could easily work the cost into it by including extras of the more fragile parts. Plus this thing would likely be in kit form more like Hot Toys early figures. This thing would require the owner to assemble more parts & pieces than any other vehicle. That's the only way to reduce shipping damage.

Perhaps HTs is just trying to gauge fan interest in the willingness to purchase this beast...we can only hope.

Just a quick message to those who have expressed an interest in a build from me.
If anyone "might" be interested in one, and would like to be "on the list" as it were, please drop me an email to [email protected] with "The Bat" as the subject line, and your name.
This is NOT actually a waiting list nor does it make you beholden to buy anything.
It's just for me to get an idea who else is interested, to get an idea of numbers, and also so i can contact them outside the forum with information if need be.
I am struggling to keep the usernames of all those interested in my head. So a single list i can keep in my email will be a lot more handy.
Thanks for reading guys.

Highly unlikely. This would be a major challenge as their first vehicle.

Besides, it wouldn't hit the market until WB/DC relaunched the franchise! Lol!

you do realize even if HT put this into production, with their current backlog and delays, we wouldn't see this till WB relaunches the franchise anyway :lol

Disappointing to read that it's cancelled. I would not go for an out of scale version, unless I was building it for my Doctor Who figures?

Still not convinced simply because 1. it's been done by other companies and 2. HT is now on their second round of Tumblers just like the 1/6 German vehicle and 3. fragile collectibles get shipped all the time by companies like QMX (The Big Damn Replica Serenity). The Bat could have been broken down into subsections and the more fragile parts put on by the owner. If Medicom can ship a four foot tall Evangelion statue made of resin from Tokyo to my little podunk town in Missouri Hot Toys can sure as hell ship me a Bat. Totally agree that it will never be under a grand tough.
