Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Yes I can't wait to see these two Kryptonians- I mean Terminators - have a fight. They'll no doubt essentially turn them into kryptonians though, with that level of power and invincibility. Heck they'll probably even fly through the air in some gravity-defying way when they take a punch.

How are they gonna edit and frame it when one of the combatants is completely naked? Surely they'd have made it easier on themselves if they'd written the fight to take place after the original T-800 had acquired his punk clothes. That would have been cooler too, we've already seen a CGI naked Arnold in T4. There's no novelty to that but they could have really tugged at nostalgia by letting us see the Tech Noir outfitted T-800 again.

And they might argue that it'd make no sense for Pops-800 to wait if he knew exactly where and when the younger T-800 was going to arrive but A) how would he know exactly where and when the younger T-800 would arrive and B) if he did, why wouldn't he ****ytrap the area with ****ing explosives and/or bring something more than a shotgun to fight with?

..because:

Hollywood = ****.

Any questions? :lol

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

If Old-T800 knows when & where young-T800 will appear I'd find more interesting to have him lay the area with C4 and as soon as the young-T800 arrives yell 'Surprise Mother*****ker' and detonate rather than a cliche fist Terminator v Terminator fist fight

Details about the 84 T-800 vs T-Oldhundred. "The battle will be better then the T-800 and T-1000 from T2" :cuckoo:

One of the most talked-about moments in the Terminator Genisys trailer was the beginning of the face-off between Arnold Schwarzenegger’s older “Guardian” Terminator and his badass 1984 self (in CGI form), a fight which TheTerminatorFans has some (possible) juicy new spoilerific details on.

Apparently production company Skydance is unhappy with the initial shoot for this battle royale, but instead of flying Arnold & co. in for expensive reshoots at Griffith Observatory they are utilizing TWO computer generated Arnold’s to create new shots that will make the fight “more brutal.”

“The battle will be better then the T-800 and T-1000 from T2. The ground will break on the wrestling fight,” says their anonymous production source.

Here’s a more detailed description of pre-viz from the piece: “The young digitally enhanced T-800 is doing a forward lunge double fist punch and/or crushing the aged T-800’s face, with both its knuckles pile-driving into the real Arnold Schwarzenegger’s metal skull, like something out of a wrestling match. The aged T-800 has its left arm locked under the T-800’s right shoulder as if it is going to make a deadly move on the younger T-800.”

During the ensuing brawl, both T-800s will sustain heavy damage, although the Guardian will emerge the victor and ultimately heal over time to become the grey-haired, present-day, grumpy old man Terminator who aids Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese in their battle against Skynet.

Fans worried about a reprise of the dodgy-looking digital Arnold from Terminator Salvation will be happy to know that the filmmakers of Terminator Genisys are using the actual molds taken by Stan Winston for the original 1984 Terminator to recreate the actor in his prime.

Lending this story credence is the fact that Skydance itself has retweeted the article, although it shouldn’t come as too much of a shock as the use of digital doubles in fight sequences has become as commonplace as punching and kicking. Still, it sounds like producers are looking to push the boundaries of a PG-13 rating even further with this new installment.

Terminator Genisys is poised to play with the continuity of the entire “Terminator” franchise by recreating scenes from the first two films in the series and also revealing Sarah Connor was raised by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator, whom she calls “Pops.” The film will also feature a man-machine hybrid as its primary antagonist which the filmmakers describe as a “visual gamechanger.”

It's almost like Hollywood executives have no idea what made the original films so memorable and think their audience wants to see low-quality efforts at recreating the ball-numbing, camera-spinning excess of AAA-videogame cutscenes in films instead...

I'm still expecting this film to be more entertaining than FF and I look forward to participating in this thread after it opens. :lol

Fun will be had. Though not for anyone who actually ends up liking it :lol
It'll be much like the Robocop 2014 thread.

Robocop 2014 wasn't a bad movie - maybe because I went in with zero expectations, I was pleasantly surprised - but it wasn't exactly great either. That may be the worst sin of all really, when a film isn't so offensively bad it can be picked apart for sport, nor does it succeed in living up to the potential of its premise, but instead is merely 'competent' from beginning to end. That's what Robocop 2014 is - a bland, white set of budget Ikea desk draws that are simultaneously perfectly functional and utterly forgettable, in film form.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I wish James Cameron would come back and make a future war trilogy, ignoring Salvation and this new film. One where the future actually looks like it's supposed to, based on the flashbacks in T1 and T2, not that Mad Max-style desert crap we had in Salvation. Very dark, with that blue shade/hue. The future scenes in X-men: Days of Future Past actually captured that look really well IMO.

I am still looking forward to this. The hype is the best part, with new figures etc coming out. The film looks good from the trailer to me. Hate Jai Courtney though.

Cameron is in his own Avatar world and is too full of himself. Ridley Scott on the other hand would do great.
