Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Exactly, that, the smile, when he goes headfirst into the patrol car. I really think this version may have brain damage. And I'm starting to think that may actually make the movie way better. :lol He'd basically just be Jason Voorhees with one-liners.

Or maybe like that bit in Robocop 2 where OCP reprograms Robocop with all sorts of pleasantness <-for the entire movie.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

That's right, they even spoiled their movie's "get out" scene, something else that has never been done prior to release. :slap

The one thing I liked from the trailer was having a time displacement globe appear on a busy freeway. That's cool! It's always been so convenient to have the future soldiers appear in a back alley or abandoned parking lot. *sigh* I think everything that *could* have been cool in this movie is just going to make the whole thing even more annoying.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

I don't know how to feel. It does look like it'll be a wreck but at the same time may have it's fun moment's. I'm more mad about how they gave away such a huge plot twist in the trailer. I'm more pissed at that than Arnold trying to smile again and looking like an ass. Still going to reserve my judgment. Can't believe they gave away a major plot twist like that what a load of horse ****.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Maybe at one point they can get old Arnold to stand on one foot! That gag never gets old and will surely bring the house down. Maybe have him lose his balance and fall over because he hasn't quite mastered it yet.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Oh this flick is going to absurd fun.

I just want my old man Terminator Hot Toys dawl.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

T2 T-800 smiling? Good.

T5 T-800 smiling? Bad.

Something tells me this post is more than it would appear :wink1:

I think the smiling scene in T2 should have stayed deleted for the very reasons Cameron originally deleted it in the first place. I don't know why he changed his mind in later years. But for the rest, I think T2 knew when enough was enough. All signs suggest that this movie will not.

Did he change his mind though? I thought he just put that scene in the SE as a goofy fan service and not because he thought it was better that way.

Well the SE seems to be the more common version of the film now. And when he was putting back in the other stuff he could have elected to leave the smiling scene out if he was still against it. His original reason for cutting it out was because he was concerned about it making the Terminator too much of a joke figure. Yeah Jim, you were right. And if this film is anything to go by that's what film-makers (and Arnie) now think the audience wants to see.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

Yeah Cameron was really careful not to go "too far" with the comedy in T2. He was even worried about playing "Bad to the Bone!" I do think that he did cross the line a couple times (I was never a fan of the aforementioned "stand one one foot" sequence) but man, talk about going COMPLETELY off the rails this year.

With or without "smiling" sculpt?

Holy **** this looks terribly insane. Like the writers are on acid insane. Why the hell would they reveal that spoiler in the trailer?

And what the hell is this?

Dumb dumb, dumb, dumb dumb..

Dumb dumb, dumb, dumb dumb..

The Terminator theme in this movie.

Re: Terminator: Genisys (July 1st, 2015)

:lol

Are you gonna add this Dumbinator to your collection when HT does it?

Oh boy. Nah I'd rather buy yet more multiples of the T2 Arnold. My older relatives saw the trailer at my place the other day, and they genuinely thought it was a parody skit. Arnold is awesome and all but I don't want a $300 joke on my shelves. :lol

I'll get whatever Arnie they put out, since I got the others. I'm glad you finally got on board with DX10 and MMS136 :clap

Yeah Cameron was really careful not to go "too far" with the comedy in T2. He was even worried about playing "Bad to the Bone!" I do think that Cameron crossed the line himself a couple times (I was never a fan of the aforementioned "stand one one foot" sequence) but man, talk about going COMPLETELY off the rails this year.

Undeniably Cameron himself started the comedy element to the franchise but the context was right for most of it, the right moments were generally picked aswell. Bad to the Bone, yeah, even I kinda question the wisdom of that - to me that's a bit of a giveaway that they're signalling Arnie as the hero. Ironically that song would seem to diminish the seriousness of an actual villain. Having said that I've grown up with T2 having that song so I wouldn't necessarily change it now if it were up to me.

This film seems like it has felt the need to amp up the comedy along with the action with no sense of when it might be more appropriate to keep it serious. Evidently they think that any moment of tension now needs to be 'relieved' with a LOL moment - such as the new 'Get out' bit. Correct me if I'm wrong but T1 and even T2 had the sense to have action scenes just be action scenes and not also sit-com.
