Wow, way to sink a billion dollar (potentially) franchise into the ground. It will be hard for the Terminator movies recover from this. Luckily, we will always have T1 and T2 plus this alternate ending that wraps up things quit nicely. As far as I'm concerned, this is how the movies end.

Correct me if I'm wrong but T1 and even T2 had the sense to have action scenes just be action scenes and not also sit-com.

Yes I don't believe Cameron ever undermined any action sequence with "goofy" humor. Even the two "get out" moments were delivered by the villain, not the hero, and so evoked nervous laughter at best.

I guess the closest he came was the moment depicted in your avatar, but part of the funniness was that Arnold remained completely silent and stoic, it wasn't humor that relied on idiotic and/or out of character dialogue.

I'm honestly not offended that they went this zany, I'm just annoyed that now they're actually going out of their way to ruin some of the raucous reactions we could have had in a movie theater by spoiling so much of it in advance.

Just watched the trailer again, did they really also spoil that

I was hoping it would be a huge step up from T3 personally. I'm not surprised that it isn't looking to be however.

I meant in Terminator movies. True Lies was a bona fide action comedy so there it was expected and even appropriate.

I'm pretty sure Arnie's clowning us. This appears to be some meta take on Last Action Hero, how he's systematically spoofing and destroying everything that made him great and world-famous.

Emilia and Jason Clarkes and Doctor Who Guy don't know what's what, but Arnie's been in on the gag all along.

That movie wouldn't have worked without the humor though, it's great for it. Very different movie to the Terminator franchise though... Or probably not so much at this stage.

T2: battle across time , had the crappy humor. Maybe that would have been Camero's direction had he made T3. Did Avatar have any silly humor in it during any of the action scenes?

Just saying that T2 was Cameron's middle ground in terms of balancing between low-budget thriller and big budget action comedy.
