OK, saw it finally last night.

Overall.... pretty bad I got to say. Dog poop, no, but pretty terrible yes. Not sure what the hell put a smile on any of your faces.

Just go into expecting to have fun.

I tried but it just didn't happen. This movie had so little going for it.

I went in without expectations and enjoyed it quite a bit...hope it's the same for you Wor-Gar

Tear that shiz up Wor-Gar. You'll love the first 15 minutes or so though.

Can't even say I like the first 15. The war just ended in the background. I didn't like seeing Terminators drive trucks.

OK, I won't cover what's already been said, but here's a few things that struck me:

I didn't like Jai, no shock... but I didn't like Emilia either. Thought she was like someone's little girl who wondered onto the set and got swept up into the movie. She was about as tough and threatening as a chiguagua.

Time jumping was needlessly confusing the way they did it. With unclear explanation why Skynet moved DDay up 20 years.

And then there was Arnold... and I was shocked how little time he was in the movie. This really felt like Jai and Emilia's movie -- which is ashamed.

Arnold's Terminator made no sense: from how he got there, to his ability to rocket through propeller props without losing a leg or even nicking his jacket, to his constant use of "old... not obsolete" and "nice to see you", to somehow escaping the time bubble and landing in a pool of liquid metal (from where?) and somehow that upgrades him? Did a couple teen newbs write this movie? Plus, didn't he conveniently find a bunch of magnetic-shot gun shells -- which I've never heard of -- but why the hell did he never use them?

John Connor -- an OK new technology. Made no sense though. If he's reconstructed on a molecular level then he isn't necessarily "metal" and wouldn't be magnetized. And can a couple speaker magnets really challenge the ultimate machine-man? Very weak Achilles heal.

But of everyone, I thought Jason Clarke did the best with what he was given. I believed him as both good and bad Connor. I didn't find him too talky -- at least what he was saying was of interest, unlike anyone else in this movie. Theoretically.

So flipping buses that do no harm to its occupants, crazy helicopter rides that defy physics, acid that burns everything except Pops' arm, liquid metal that brings machines back to life, and Pops ability to "heal" his flesh -- what did he do, grow new skin in the sewer? And why the hell would anyone "lay off" Pops when he was probably the best construction worker of all time?

Anyway, yeah, I felt no attachment to this entry. I haven't seen T3 in ages but T3 has to be better.

Well said.

I can't put my finger on it, but I really loved Jurassic World, and greatly disliked Genisys, even though both are dumb movies that **** on their predecessors (Genisys more so).

Yeah, I agree. JW has some strange likeability quotient that seems to work for most, whereas TG just doesn't. I assume its many things working together that make one enjoyable and one not.

That said, I think dinos innately appeal to your inner child, so that movie can get away with more, whereas robot Terminators appeal to an older, darker child that requires hard edge serious fare, so it suffers when it isn't hard core.

That may be it. More finesse and intricacy may be required to get the proper Terminator feel. That said, they are just cold, calculating robots...hmm. Perhaps it's because I hold the Terminator series (first film) in much higher esteem than the JP franchise, and I've been a much bigger Terminator fan than JP fan all my life, that I need more substance in that type of film.

I really liked T3 though and can enjoy Salvation even if it doesn't feel anything like a Terminator film though, so who knows.

I feel like the dinosaurs were done justice for the most part in JW. The Terminators in Genisys, not so much. There were some cool scenes here and there with Arnold, or when young Kyle is about to be killed by the human-disguised T-800 in the sewer, but overall the film just left a bad taste in my mouth. Even films I don't particularly like, Marvel Studios films and Transformers films, I can watch again, but I think I would be literally sick to my stomach if I had to watch Genisys again, not exaggerating. :lol

I have to see it again, but after initial viewing like it more than expected. Could have been better, but not a disaster. All the poor reviews may have lowered my expectations, but overall I could see what they were trying to do. Right now I would put it ahead of 3&4. I remember some small details that explain a few of the issues mentioned above. Not sure I will go back to the theater again, but will buy the blu when it comes out and give it another chance.

I still haven't seem this yet, but Wor-Gar's summary sounds about right from everything I've seen & read.

They made money in the end, but the art component was flushed down the bowl.

What a damn shame.

I had a strangely opposite first reaction to what I expected. I assumed I'd hate Genisys right from the off and that I'd enjoy Jurassic World. It went the other way.

I don't consider it a real Terminator movie, pretty far from the 'true successor' to T2 that some claim. At best I will continue to enjoy it like my first viewing although I'm sceptical that that will be the case, I can see my rating of it dropping with subsequent viewings.

Definitely. I found the movie serviceable as a dumb action movie, but if I really looked at it as a Terminator movie in the vein of T1 and T2 then I'm sure that it would fall apart.

This movie reminded me of the movie Predators. A lot of hype, couldn't wait for it, and a let down. Predators had a scrawny Adrian Brody trying to act tough and this one had a cute little EC trying to be tough. Both had badass killer characters that got killed easily.

Predators was way better than this. It was more earnest in comparison.

And I walked out of it actually wanting to see a sequel and where they would go with it. Can't say the same about Genisys.

I haven't seen Predators in quite a while, must give it another go. I was deliberately not watching it while I was attempting to sell my Hot Toys figures from it but they're gone now, should be safe enough.
