Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

I wonder if they'd be so many defending Arnie's return as the T-800 if it hadn't been Arnie, what if Lou Ferrigno had played the Terminator in 1984?

What if a loaf of bread was money?

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

I don't think they'll have the guts to make Arnold a villain again. At least not for the whole film. What Arnold says suggests that there'll be reprogramming involved, I'm guessing that reprogramming will be towards the side of Sarah/John Connor and he'll probably close out the film that way.

I remember getting excited when they said about T3 that the TX would be able to reprogram other Terminators and look how that turned out - zombie movement internally conflicted Terminator. So we didn't truly get Arnold as a 'bad' Terminator there. But heck, without Cameron directing, he even forgot how to to play a 'good' Terminator - all the robotic jerky C-3PO head movements, the quipping (without any learning context) etc. I expect more of the same in Terminator Genesis.

The reprogramming he's talking about is audience believably. :lol

The fact of the matter is that your argument has already disproven itself with other films, though. If he had to have the bodybuilder physique from T1 to mask the endoskeleton, how did his much leaner, less "Mr. Olympia" physique mask the Endo properly in T2? The fact of the matter is that the T-800 was an infiltration unit, that means that, in The Terminator universe, these things could go for years incognito. How are you going to infiltrate a place where everyone gets older, but you stay the same age without being conspicuous? I don't know, maybe I just like the biological tissue argument because half the others I've heard are so ludicrously asinine. "Arnold is the Scientist who built The Terminators! Do you remember what happened the last time Arnold was a scientist *coughs* Batman & Robin *coughs*. "Arnold is the guy who protected Sarah Connor as a little girl!" And this inspires the look of a Terminator that's 30 years younger than he is? "The Terminator is an artificial Endoskeleton beneath an organic body of muscle and skin, which ages like any other tissue." That actually makes sense.

Go back and read DiFab's response to your post (the one you ignored :lol). It hits the nail on the head better than I could.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

Wrap up the franchise?
What a joke.
The only tale that would deserve a movie is Kyle s journey, living trough the war, found by John, defeating Skynet and travelling through Time.
The rest is just ****.
This movie Will be another humiliation for the franchise.
An old Arnold, a ****** second rate cast, and a stupid script.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

Presumably they want to keep Arnold around for those 2nd and 3rd films. So could Genesis be the first Terminator film where the T-800 isn't destroyed? Surely they wouldn't destroy him in Genesis and then find excuse to have a different 'old' T-800 in the next two films.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

I'm okay with the way they're presenting this story. I think having the same terminator over a span of 30 years could be very interesting. The only thing I do not want to see is the biker leathers and shades look just to have it in there. That would be really stupid, especially in the future.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

I agree, its a bit stupid if they persist with that look. They will of course. I think its pretty much guaranteed. Imagine if they recreated the Tech Noir outfit with old Arnie though, I'd be curious to see that.

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

How many time periods will we be seeing in this? Danny Dyson is in it as a grown man? And yet Sarah and Reese will be T1 aged. They certainly have my curiosity though nothing in the way of 'hope'.

And i worked on the ****** video game tie in ^^

Re: Terminator: Genesis (July 1st, 2015)

T1 "wrapped up" the franchise with it's own opening text.

"The machines rose from the ashes of the nuclear fire. Their war to exterminate mankind had raged for decades, but the final battle would not be fought in the future. It would be fought here, in our present. Tonight..."

There was the future war and the "final battle" that took place in May 1984. The end.
