Why not use small aluminum tubing?
Right diameter and those caps?
No need to paint except the caps and fuses.

Cannot wait!

Breaking News to appear in Variety Tomorrow

More 'Terminator' on the way
New ownership means another run
By MICHAEL FLEMING

There won't be a role for Arnold Schwarzenegger. James Cameron will not be the director.
But at least one new Terminator (the fourth) seems destined to hit screens now that its feuding fathers, Andy Vajna and Mario Kassar, have been bought out.

The cyborg saga belongs to the Halcyon Co., which has purchased all rights to the franchise from Kassar and Vajna for an undisclosed amount.

Halcyon, a privately funded company hatched recently by entrepreneurs Victor Kubicek and Derek Anderson, acquired the right to produce "Terminator" films, future merchandising and licensing ventures.

The beachhead of the venture is "Terminator 4," which has a script by "T3" writers John Brancato and Michael Ferris. Moritz Borman, the former CEO of Intermedia Films and exec producer of "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines," will produce. Kubicek and Anderson will co-produce, and former PolyGram Films marketing president Peter D. Graves will be executive producer and oversee marketing of the picture.

Though no director or cast has yet been secured, "Terminator 4" is being earmarked for a summer 2009 release. No deals have been made for distribution or financing, but there are pre-existing negotiating positions for MGM and Japanese distributor Toho Towa, each of whom was involved in "T3," a film that grossed more $430 million worldwide.

"The Terminator franchise represents by far the most popular and successful franchise not owned by a major studio," Kubicek said. "We see this global franchise as a cornerstone of Halcyon's future business plans."

The new backers see "T4" as an attempt to reinvent the franchise with new cast and plotlines, ploys that worked for Batman and James Bond, and is being attempted with "The Incredible Hulk," which has Edward Norton as its new star.

The "T4" script, which has been kept under tight wraps, picks up with John Connor in his 30s leading what's left of the human race against the machines. It is being seen as the start of a new trilogy.

"With 'T3,' we included many incidental details and plot points that, along with the main narrative, set the stage for an entirely new set of interrelated stories covering the future adventures of John Connor and the Terminators," Borman said. "This new Terminator trilogy will build upon the already huge worldwide Terminator fan base."

Halcyon's Anderson was founder and creative director of the boutique marketing and ad agency In the Mix, which he sold in 2000. Kubicek comes out of finance, and also produced Halcyon's first film, "Cook-Off!," which screened at the HBO Aspen Comedy Festival.

Kassar and Vajna bought the rights to the "Terminator" franchise from the bankruptcy sale of Carolco assets. They made a later deal with Gale Anne Hurd, who owned many of the rights, and to whom Cameron signed over his rights, for $1, with the guarantee that he would not be replaced as director on the first film.

The "Terminator" franchise is already looking alive and well on the small screen.

Nothing's official yet, but Fox is said to be very impressed with "The Sarah Connor Chronicles," a Warner Bros. TV-produced hour based on "Terminator" characters and mythology. It could be ordered to series as early as this week, some believe.

The C2 partners get exec producer credits on the pilot, but people familiar with the project said they've essentially taken a passive role in the day-to-day production of the David Nutter-helmed pilot. It's possible that, with the C2 camp getting out of the "Terminator" business, their stake in the show will simply transfer to the new owners.

Re: Official Terminator thread.

Not surprised that they want to "reinvent" it. Seems to be the new trend. What do they call it now -- reimagining? :lol Why can't they just call it like it is: "we want to keep making money on this".

But I am surprised that they want to keep the T3 writers and their "take" on the history leading up to the end of the world.

Re: Official Terminator thread.

Is it me or is it almost impossible to find a Hot Toys Battle-Damaged T1Terminator(Not Endo) now? Then again, with my luck, I really shouldn't be surprised.:lol

Re: Official Terminator thread.

Another beloved franchise from my childhood for Hollywood to rape me with. Doesn't anybody in La-La-Land have an original idea anymore? Anybody?

No kidding. I found one on an online retailer a couple weeks ago that was listed as in stock, so I sent my order only to get an email the next day saying that they had sold it earlier that day. Sigh. Oh well.

I hope it turns out good, but I dont count on it.

Re: Official Terminator thread.

Well, DAMN!
I thought we'd finally see our eagerly awaited all out Endo war.

Now...all CGI madness with other looking robots.
WOOHOO! WOOPDYP-F'N-DO!

NEXT?

I got better things to do than see another re-imagined idea....

Re: Official Terminator thread.

The sale of rights to Halcyon will no doubt impact merchandising licenses as well. Not sure how this will affect Sideshow and Hot Toys depending on their current license agreement but it could mean that they no longer have the rights until something is negotiated with the new licensors.

Re: Official Terminator thread.

Well, my first attempt at pipe bombs was a failure. It's not that they are hard to make, it's just that I didn't have any end caps, so I used green putty to fill them and put the round shape on the end. I left it dry overnight and the putty reacted with the styrene turning it into a rubbery mess.

Anyway, I used a 1 1/4" piece of 1/4" OD tube with a 1/8" section of 5/16" OD tube on either end for the end caps. With these (https://www.plastruct.com/Pages/OnlineProductDetail.lasso?-op='eq'&CCode=PC-10 ) end caps, they should look pretty good. You might need to adjust some of the lengths, though for it to look right.

Sorry, no pics, though. I'll see about getting some end caps and trying again.

I commend you on the effort DBoz. have you considered using aluminum tubing as Les suggested? Just curious..

Re: Official Terminator thread.

Did anyone notice that the 1:1 Terminator is now SOLD OUT? They now have a "veteran combat" version. I don't see any difference yet.

I have worked with aluminum tubing in the past, and I prefer styrene or butyrate. They are much easier to work with.

Re: Official Terminator thread.

Gotcha DBoz!

Btw boys, just had to share my WIP Police Station/Hotel Custom T1 T 800 with you. This is a Lonnie HS with Hurricane Custom light-up eye conversion with real metal eye rim using Stan Winston photo reference being painted by our very own DarkArtist. Hurricane also extended the neck length and mounted it on a HT neck post to properly fit on the HT T 800 Body with all the trimmings, outfit and weapons.. Gargoyles already trimmed to fit.

The head has traveled from Atlanta to Los Angeles, overseas to the UK, back to Los Angeles and is now in Florida...

Go get 'em Josh. :rock

That's not necessarily true. Just like how there's no all-encompassing "Terminator" license now which allows different companies like Hot Toys and Sideshow to produce figures from different movies in the franchise this new deal will most likely merely add another licensing entity into the marketplace.

Canal+ owns the rights to "Terminator 2", they granted Sideshow the T2 license and the making of new "Terminator" movies shouldn't effect the T2 license.

Canal+ I believe is Andrew Vajna and Mario Kassar who previously owned Carolco. They sold the franchise rights to Halcyon so they control the licensing now. May not affect the current license agreements with Sideshow or Hot Toys depending upon the duration of those contracts but it will definitely impact licensing since they are now the license holder to those properties.

Re: Official Terminator thread.

No, Canal+ is a large French multimedia company.

You're confusing it with C2 Pictures which is essentially "Carolco v.2"

The rights that are at the center of this new film deal are the rights to produce new "Terminator" films. The rights to the existing films are still owned by several different companies and that's not likely to change any time soon.

Sony owns the original "Terminator" film. Fox now owns the home video rights. (This is a result of MGM owning the rights and Sony purchasing MGM and unloading the video rights on Fox)

Canal+ owns "Terminator 2" and Lionsgate owns the video rights.

Warner Bros. owns "Terminator 3".

That much is pretty much set in stone. This new company will own the "Terminator" movies they make outright but they'll have no claim over the existing films.
