Really? I felt like with the opening scene they were establishing the tone for the film, they were embracing that silly comic book tone, but not going "full Raimi" either. I didn't think the tone was a problem.

I loved the movie, but watching it you can tell that they rushed a lot of things that would have been better to see slowly develope. That's my main problem with the movie, but I still thought it was really good, it could have been great though.

It was a step in the right direction and I'm almost certain ASM3 is going to turn out awesome.

The tone is mess it's kiddy then gos dark silly at times kiddy again some scenes just shouldn't have been in there.

Thinking about the film more today.... Here is why I had a big problem with Electro... There was no real Hand to Hand Combat... It was all Spidey dodging Electric beams... It's why I thought the fight with Goblin was much better, even though it was much shorter. I like when Spidey gets to get in there and Mix it up a bit..

You know what else was great about this.... This was the first Spider-man film where Spidey kept his mask on for all the important action scenes... They did not feel the need to take off the mask so we could see who the star was. I respect that.

Maybe I missed it, but was there any indication that Peter was still on the hunt for Uncle Bens killer? Or was it completely abandoned??

He gave it up in ASM when Captain Stacy made him realise he wasn't helping as Spider-Man he was just out for vengeance and he didn't want to be that guy.

why have him in avengers its pointless he has his own universe no need to team up with b and c listers.

:exactly:

I loved the 90s animated and spectacular spiderman shows so it was nice to see this comic cone to life on the big screen.

Feel the same.

I don't think the video game is canon as it plays differently from the movie but the game starts out with Peter going after the Killer. He finds him and the killer ends up being killed by Cletus Kasady (Carnage), who's on a killing spree of other criminals.

That actually sounds pretty cool. Too bad it won't be canon

Didn't he have the police drawing still pinned to his wall at the end? I don't think he's giving it up, I thick he's just side lined it due to other things and emotions going on in his life. I'm sure his confliction about being with Gwen took over most of his life. At least that's I choose to see things.

I definitely think Spidey getting a lot of screen time as Spidey, with the mask on, was a good thing. Particularly since this version of Spidey is the best we've seen so far IMO.

I'm actually watching Spider-Man 2 right now--I haven't seen it in a few years, and want to see if my impression about it still holds--and though it's got its problematic moments, the pacing, the way the narrative builds is all done so well. The best movies have a kind of natural rhythm to them. I do think the lack of that was my major problem with ASM 2.

there were a lot of unnecessary plots and a lot of waste screen time. Rhino's fight should have been longer at the end. The fight should have ended with peter winning and Rhino escaping. HUGE wasted opportunity. ending the fight in the middle was BS.
Sony might has a well have spiderman waiving a middle finger at the camera at the end. :lol
Seemed to work perfectly for the audience I saw it with, as they cheered when the movie ended.

Watchng S2 right now, amazing the smooth narrative when compared to the ADD ASM2. :lol

The story is really simple in Spider-Man 2. I didn't realize how basic the story was until after seeing ASM, and comparing the two. It's primarily Spidey trying to figure out who he is and what he wants to do, and along the way, having to confront Doc Ock. One major subplot was Harry's unhealthy hatred of Spidey. ASM lacked that narrative simplicity and focus IMO.

I like the ASM series but I agree. Well put.

Even though I love Spider-Man 2 and consider it the best marvel movie it's weird how they never resolved why he was losing his powers and how he got them back.

It seemed like it was supposed to be an allegory for his life, he had no control over his life so he had no control over his powers but it wasn't explained scientifically, It's like they were tied to his motivation or something, since he had something to fight for he got them back but before that he didn't so he lost them.

I dunno :duh

I watched the extended version tonight. Some scenes belonged on the cutting room floor, but one that I don't believe was in the theatrical cut was Peter going to see a doctor about his problems, and that scene essentially spelled out that this was a problem of Peter losing his Spider-Man abilities because he wasn't sure he wanted to be Spider-Man anymore. He develops his powers after he stops second guessing whether he must be Spider-Man, after saving a kid from a burning building despite having lost almost all his abilities (another thing they better flesh out in the extended version, I think).

The thing about that that I don't think they covered very well was how he resolves all the problems they highlight early on, as a result of his taking on that burden--he can't keep jobs, his grades suffer, his relationships suffer, etc. Being a functional human being seems to mean that Spider-Man can't totally dominate his life, but they don't really go there that I saw.

Don't forget a better Evil Dead scene than the actual Evil Dead remake! :lol

I was a Raimi film before the Spider-Man films, and totally geeked out when that scene happened, as well as anytime Bruce showed up in cameos.

Even though I agree mostly, ASM had a good focus, it's ASM2 to me that wasn't focused truly tried to do to much with it's story for it's own good.

Okeedokee, just finished S2 extended, haven't watched it for 5 years, seems even longer than that though.

First of all, a giant beetle bug landed on the middle of my TV on the scene where Spidey is walking on his big web after the final Doc Ock battle, the bug actually landed ontop of the web....stupid insect, I had to pause the movie and dispose of it, would've taken a picture if my ipad wasn't charging upstairs.

Anyways, back to the movie.

******* does it hold up well!

JJJ with the spidey costume, freaking crazy, but I don't know if necessary, still funny as all hell!

Dr. Strange is mentioned, forgot about that.

Turns into horror movie at hospital.

Peter gets emotionally beat up really bad during the ball where he is working as a photographer.

Being bossed around by JJJ.
Can't get food.
Can't take a photo.
Can't get a drink.
Harry slaps him in public.
MJ tells him off.
MJ gets proposed to.

The Aunt May catch still one of the most heroic spidey moments put on film, it even ends on 4 gorgeous breasts! :lol

Dock Ock's sunglasses are the Superman of sunglasses!

Train fight still one of the best cbm battles.

MJ's droopy ****s at coffee shop and *** shot at the end.

Wife loves the love story.

Yeah, still a classic!

It just shows how strong of a flick it is that all the awesomeness totally trumps how ****ing creepy Toby-Parker is. :lol
God he's creepy, he could only go one level creepier if he killed newspaper boys and choked Mary Jane out right before challenging JJJ to a fight.

Thats what the comics were like, it would have been stupid if Gwen landed on a trampoline or something of that sort, like Nova said, it happened gradually.
