Source: The Hollywood Reporter
April 29, 2010

In an article at The Hollywood Reporter talking about video game and comic book adaptations, Columbia Pictures president Matt Tolmach briefly addressed the upcoming Spider-Man reboot:

He also cautioned that moviemakers are in "a golden moment of technology," with 3D and various other digital techniques at their disposal. "With great power comes great responsibility, and we have to always fall back on great storytelling," he said.

Tolmach also said he's excited but nervous about his company's upcoming Spider-man reboot, which he described as "Peter Parker told differently." He promised it will look, feel and smell different from the three films starring Tobey Maguire.

"We're humbled by it," he said.

Actually the drinking age is 18 the smoking age is 16 (i think you have to be 18 to buy them considering we're allowed to smoke and the teachers don't mind you can get married, buy a house, get a proper job and have kids at 16 and you can get a tattoo at 16 with parental consent at some salons or whatever you call em

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I remember reading or hearing that this "New" spiderman was gonna be more like Ult. Spiderman...is this still the case?

Does anyone know if it's gonna be like the recently completed Bedis\Bagley run or this new Ult. Spiderman thats like on issue 9 which Bendis is also writing.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

The more and more i think about it the more FOR IT I AM. Raimi's just didn't get some things right.

I am 99% sure we are getting web shooters and other goodies this go around.

Screenwriter returns to the Spidey franchise
83-year-old Alvin Sargent, who has worked on every "<nobr style="color: darkgreen; font-weight: normal; font-size: 100%; font-family: Arial,Helvetica, sans;" id="itxt_nobr_2_0">Spider-Man </nobr>" movie, has been brought back to polish the script for Sony's Spider-Man reboot.
The veteran screenwriter is working off a script by James Vanderbilt. Sargent also wrote a draft for Spider-Man 4 before that movie was scrapped.
The Marc Webb-directed reboot is scheduled to start shooting later this year for a July 3, 2012 release in 3D and 2D theaters.
Heat Vision says that Sargent "has become the studio’s go-to guy for punching up weighty scenes. The new 'Spider-Man' is rumored to be more emotionally anchored and realistic than the previous movies. Word is that Peter Parker will be a 17-year-old high school kid struggling with shifting hormones and an outsider status. And let’s not forget the death of his uncle."

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I hope that line about the death of his uncle is just because that tormented Parker for a long time and not a hint that we're getting another origin story. Everyone and their dog knows how Peter Parker became Spider-Man we don't need to see it again.

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

I kid. I kid.

As long as someone doesn't show up in a future sequel to be the "true" killer of Uncle Ben I think this reboot could be a good thing. I also hope they don't design some suit that looks nothing like the comic to keep it "real".

Re: Spider-Man: The Reboot!

God I loved that cartoon. I loved how they started doing those longer multipart story arcs. Is that show on DVD, I'd be tempted to buy it.
