Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

This has probably already been mentioned, but I just loved how Garfield played Peter. He was very awkward, but not a (slang for cat). That is why I never liked Tobey's portrayal... his was just this meek little meringue of a man.

ASM's Peter talking to Gwen at the beginning and when he asked her out was fantastic. But even the first scene with Flash was a great portrayal. Peter wasn't this big hero, jumping into the fight. In fact, he could barely get the words across to Flash to tell him to stop. But at least he had the backbone to get involved at all.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

i see where your coming from but in the end spiderman wasn't made for kids it was high school students and adults .

:lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly: Rating was PG-13, not PG and not G. :dunno

Holy crap, you better let all the manufacturers know that they are inadvertantly marketing this stuff towards kids! :wink1:

Come on, of course kids are going to see it, it's freakin' Spider-Man!

I'm not arguing that the scene wasn't covered by the rating or that it isn't a parental resposibility to know what you are showing to your kid, just that the scene was out of place for a Spider-Man movie. :dunno

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I'd rather Kingpin and a few members of the Sinister Six. I'd love Spidey v Sinister Six.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I had about 500 dollars worth of Jurassic Park toys when I was 7. Ask me if I had nightmares about the Rex eating a goat or Gallimimus or lawyer. Kids these days should grow a pair.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

We just got back and I was blown away. From previews to finish.

I had been avoiding Batman previews like the plague and the preview was off the hook, cannot wait to see this, anyways on to Spidey...

Garfield has the perfect frame for the classic Spiderman. Near the end when hes standing over Cpt. Stacy I about lost it at how much his sillhouette reminded me of the older comics when Peter was in high school.

Loved Emma as Gwen. She seemed very genuine and I really enjoyed her and Peters relationship.

The guy who played Conners was pretty good, but I really liked the guy who played his part in the Raimi films, so I'm kind of meh either way on that.

Sally Field looks incredible for her age. Her and Sheen were both great.

Great interaction between Peter and Flash. Made Flash the big jerk without it being over the top. The shirt at the end was a great reminder of the Flash that was so pro Spidey while razzing Parker.

After seeing this though, and seeing the mask in various lighting and seeing the 30 foot closeup of the eyes at times, how in the hell did the toy companies come up with yellow eyes from the metal reflective lenses? Sure, there were times they reflected yellow as well as every other color, but c'mon... :dunno

I'll leave with one gripe. They could have added a scene in near the end of JJ coming out of his office and yelling at everyone to get a pic of the Spider Menace, thats the only part I dearly missed. :monkey2 I think Simmons should definitely come back and I think he'd melt in fabulously with the cast.

To be fair, all the prelim ____ had him with the "yellow" eyes. If HT fixes that, I'll be buying him.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

The crane swinging scene is one of, if not the best action scenes from all the Spider Man films. I know some of you didn't like the music score but I thought the music during the part were he composes himself before jumping off the roof onto the crane was epic.

This was the one scene I kind of had problems with just from a logic perspective:
It's an inspiring scene and all, but the helicopter is RIGHT THERE! The cops and everyone are on his side now - why not just give him a ride in the copter?

i couldn't disagree more. i felt embarrassed watching this scene.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Because there needed to be more C. Thomas Howell.

Also, I really didn't enjoy the fight scenes. They were too quick, and ghosty. I saw it in 2D, which suprised me. Could've been my theater, but everything was too fast, and never let me enjoy what Spidey was doing.

I did like the Stan Lee thing. That was the best scene in the entire movie.
