Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Any wants for villains in parts 2 and 3?

They pretty much indicated who was going to be the villain in part 2 right?

But anyway, I'd love to see Shocker, Kraven, Chameleon, Electro, and Mysterio eventually...not all obviously but from that group I'd be happy.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Just nothing involving symbiotes, please.

If this version can last long enough I'm open to a symbiote story over the course of two movies, idealy something like 4 and 5, work both Venom and Carnage in after Gwen's death at the hands of Goblin so Peter is in a very dark place emotionaly.

But I'd much prefer if they stuck to 1 villain or 1 major and one minor villain (green goblin / proto-goblin) per movie and built their way upto the Sinister Six.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

During the final scenes of the movie, you do see that Peter has the WANTED poster tacked up on his bulletin board.

iirc, they showed that during a monolog that mentioned the many "loose ends" in Peter's life.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

what about peters hand print that was covered in blood ? possble clone saga ?

If they could somehow plant the seeds for Brock in part 2, he could work in part 3. I just don't think it would happen that way. But at the same time, since they know this series will go at least three movies (based on Stone's contract), maybe they would be more willing to have part 2 as more of a second act, rather than an entirely standalone movie.

But also, just introducing Venom instantly opens the floodgates of sadness from SM3. So even if they had a good plan for him, SM3 would make me wary of Venom.

As for Carnage, bleh. He always seemed to just scream "90's Marvel" to me. Occasionally he was used well, but as an overall character I'm just not a fan.

I would love to see Mysterio, if he could be done well. And I'd like to see some other villains who wouldn't make a good main villain, like Shocker or Scorpion. They don't even have to have them as a big part of the story. Just show them near the beginning, getting beaten up by SM, as examples of how he now does this on a regular basis.

Yeah, along with the picture with his parents, Uncle Ben's picture, and one more thing which I'm now forgetting.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

It was pleasing to see the 3D was no gimmick here. I have seen this in IMAX 3D and 2D now and most definitely enjoyed the 3D experience far more.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

chameleon and Sergei Kravinoff

Green Goblin done right. Spiderman snapping Gwen's neck.

Electro, Hydro-Man, Carnage, Bolliver Trask.

Not sure if Vermin is supposed to be the same creature as the rat from the movie, but it makes sense.

If was a big WTF moment that seemed to be forgotten soon after.:lol

Who?

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Just got done seeing this and while it was an awesome movie, there was some stuff that was not addressed that should of have been that I feel like it truly held this back abit. Still a great film and for sure worth seeing.

Yeah, I was a little taken back by the sudden and unnecessary gore of the rat eating the other rat. A father in the row in front of me was scrambling to cover his son's eyes too. It was really out of place for the movie.

A simple scene of the giant rat in the cage would have worked just as well.
:dunno

i see where your coming from but in the end spiderman wasn't made for kids it was high school students and adults .

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Shield, Nick Fury, and Hawkeye are all more based on the Ultimate universe than 616.

And I'm not sure what definition you're using, but sticking to walls, fighting monsters, and saving cars from bridges seems pretty amazing to me.

You got me there; the Avengers was a nice mix of Ultimates and Avengers.

By Amazing I think you know what I mean. It doesn't take a prodigy to see that.:wink1:

I'm not even being deliberately obtuse, I am missing a bit of what you think isn't there. Is it not being "amazing" as in the adjective, or just not similar to "Amazing", as in being more like the specific comic?

I just think a lot of people are taking the title too strictly. They didn't want to go with "Spider-Man" again, and I don't think any of his nicknames (unlike The Dark Knight) would make a good movie title. So they went with another extremely well-known phrase.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

Yea I was pretty amazed, especially by the High School fight, that's not just the best Spiderman fight, but probably the best comic book movie fight put on screen thus far.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I loved Spider-man 2 - at the time it was definitely in my top 5 comic book movies of all time. The arc of Doc Ock's character was one of the best villain developments we've seen in any comic book movie.

However Webb did something that Raimi probably had little control over and now diminishes the Raimi films in my mind - casting. Just putting Garfield and Stone in this film it seems he's halfway there. They are so much more interesting and watchable than Maguire and Dunst that it's not even funny. Sure Spider-man 2 may still be a better script than ASM - but I do think that the new film is my favorite Spider-man movie now.

As for directions - I'm hoping they hold off on Goblin and Gwen's fate until the 3rd movie. I'd like to maybe see some version of the Sinister Six next movie with all the genetic villains - Rhino, Vulture, Lizard - maybe Kraven leading them all. I've always liked Mysterio too - although he's not much of a challenge for Spidey.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man

I was saddened to see SM cripple by a single damn bullet, really? He was tossed around and flew through walls from Lizard and that didn't hurt him much.

The walls didn't enter his body and destroy tissue and muscle...

And he wasn't crippled he was up and running within 10 minutes, it just affected his senses and aim.
