If you show the public a trailer that promises to reveal the untold story of Peter Parker's parents with ominous lines about coming and getting the truth and the fact that the bite was not an accident, then you are setting them up for disappointment when you cut those lines and plot points out of the final cut.

My enjoyment of the film was impacted by the discrepancy between the advertising and the finished product. The untold story about his parents remains largely untold.

Yep the marketting was bad as it made unfulfilled promises.

Who knows why they cut scenes out

I bet it was either because they decided to extend it over the sequels rather than explain it all in the first movie or because fanboys complained about it, they cut it to not alienate fans of the character by changing him too much

I am going to give it another chance on video and will probably enjoy it more for what it is rather than what I (justifiably) thought it was going to be.

MS couldn't do any better with Spidey than has been done already, except Venom

I just hope Sony do not rush Venom back. There are other villains I would much prefer to see first. I wonder if Kingpin is exclusive to the Daredevil franchise since he was originally a Spidey villain. KP and the Sinister Six would make an amazing movie.

The irony is, you thought the film sucked without it, it would've been wholly worse if they'd left it in.

Lol I love how people are on celtics side when he knows jack **** about the character. Yes asm did the origin story same as raimi but guess what that's how the the story freakin goes. Peter gets bullied, gets bitten in a lab and wakes up with powers. Well **** I guess raimi copied off Spider-Man the animated series since most of his movies were ripped from that show. It's Spider-Man's lore , this movie didn't rip off anything. Conners was a good guy before he turns bad . Celtic wants to just defend raimi like he made the character when in actuality he just copy and paste the comics like this movie did. Yea asm didn't do anything that new but it didn't copy raimi .

Marvel Studios has been cranking out films at an impressive pace, and they're doing justice to their characters to boot.

And SM1&2 and ASM are better than some of Marvels own outings.

I would say SM 1&2 are as good as Marvel's films.

I'm not a fan of Ultimates Spidey and felt Garfield's Spidey had lousy characterization.
Peter Parker is a dork, not a d!ck.

The Sinister Six idea isn't bad, but it sounds like possible overkill.
As in the main hero who winds up becoming a supporting character in his own film (see Jackleg's Wolverine).
I'm still waiting for Kraven the Hunter and the Chameleon.

Most people know jack **** about the character. The movie has to appeal to the masses, people who don't read comics. And to someone who hasn't...the movie isn't different from the previous films. Minus the better visual style, this movie had none.
