I have a Jawbone Up24, and I even though the apple watch is supposed to do some sort of health tracking, I don't see myself wearing it 24/7. That jawbone is hard to beat, incredible battery life, and it "just works".

Also, I don't see the apple watch replacing an old school time piece. Yeah, you have to charge it daily, but then again I don't wear a watch at work.

To get the full benefits of the fitness tracker should it be worn 24/7? I'm not too UP on the fitness band tracking trends.

Yes and no, the couple of hours it takes to charge it could be while you sleep, and although it also tracks how you do it (sleep) it really wouldn't make a huge difference.

That thing will last you 7 days straight though, and the charge time is relatively quick. Probably could charge it while wearing it at your desk or something. Very doable.

Does it work with the fitness app on the phone or do you have to download third party software?

Every third-party product has third-party software, but a number of those products now also work with Health Kit (Apple's software stack). Some require an intermediary piece of software, such as anything from Fit Bit.

What PP said. Apple own app is great and syncs with mostly everything. I use a combination of it, and myfitnesspal (excellent app).

Personally not all that interested in buying one but I will be watching.

I'm sure Samsung is having a hell of a day.

I'm getting one for sure. Very curious as to the whole "iPhone" dependent thing.

It's amazing how out of touch some folks on the net are wrt to what's happening today. So many folks think this is like any other IT product announcement and haven't seen the writing on the wall for the past few years, that Apple has firmly moved into the lifestyle brand market, and that this watch will be the new crown jewel (no pun intended).

I see complaints like "no one is going to hand down a gold edition Apple watch to their grand kids" - I don't doubt that. But if you're a fan of the company, get into it, buy stock. Give your grand kids a few hundred thousand or a couple of million you made on AAPL instead.

And there you have it.

Apple Watch Sport (aluminum): $349/399 (38mm/44mm)
Apple Watch Collection (stainless): $549-$1100
Apple Watch Edition (18k gold): $10k+

350 is a bit much combined with a phone that you shell out equal amounts of dough for. People have a lot of disposable income these days. We are on a statue/ figure toy forum afterall. :lol

Not a fan of the prices on these things. At all.

Wonder if apple will issue $100/$200 gift cards a month from now to early adopters like they did with the iPhone when it first came out...
