I'm happy to hear so many freaks are going to be buying the Apple watch. Hopefully the mass market will follow suit and make this the best launch ever.
1- Yes it's expensive. But then again any respectable time piece (smart or not) IS expensive.
2- iPhone only/iPhone needed: duh, why would they make it compatible with any other phone? And I'm really thinking that some functionality will require an iPhone, but normal crap will be able to work without it. Like the time, for example.
3- early adoption knowing a better model will come out: sell the old, get the new. Simple, that's how you do it.
This thing will rock. Can't wait to have one.
Just can't beat the feeling of getting a new apple product.
1- any respectable time piece is and rarely has to be replaced other than a new battery or service over time. Try that on for size Apple or any phone company.
2- it's not the fact that it needs to work with an iPhone that's a pain. It's the fact that your will be having to replace these things more often as software becomes more demanding. Now instead of one pain in the ass you have two things you have to replace during the infamous APPLE cycle.
3- im not sure what he was getting at there at the end of the video But I assume it's just the vicious cycle or replacement for this or that. Not fun at all.
4- im sure it is going to be cool no doubt and will have some amazing features but it's still not cool enought for me to take off my current watch.
I'd be hard pressed to call an iphone watch a respectable time piece. It's an iphone in the shape of a watch is all. I don't do much with my phone so these would be a waste of time for me. And they seem to be gawdy colors. I remember when I was younger I wanted a SWATCH so bad. I never got one.
My father used to be a watch maker. He repaired watches and made parts when they no longer could be found. He didn't repair anything with a battery.
Does it run iOS apps? Nope. Is the UI similar to an iPhone? No. It's really only like an iPhone insofar as anything with a screen and touch is like an iPhone.
Apple isn't out to just eat everyone's lunch, so I'm sure they figure the fitness tracking niche is well served by others. It seems like something new is coming out every couple of months in this category.
