Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I doubt Avengers will make $1 billion.

And to answer your question, of course 3D gives an unfair advantage because of the higher ticket prices.

Moreover, due to inflation, the numbers are not really comparable over time. A $100MM grossing film in 1980 vs $100MM in 2012 is a massive difference in actual number of people who went to see it.

A fairer comparison is this, adjusted for inflation:

Thanks for that. I knew inflation played into it somehow but wasn't too sure.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I don't get too caught up in a movies numbers but I guarantee that this movie will at least make around $40 from me alone from at least 3 theater viewings.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I will say that each new morsel of footage is getting me excited. The latest tv spot has Cap telling people to suit up. Neat.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

The Norton Hulk is the best version. He looked the most like the comic book Hulk. The new Hulk is fugly and I'm sad its the version HT will make a figure of. But know HT, if they develop that huge body, they'll want to reuse it so I'll probably get the Norton and Banna Hulks too :lol

I've never read a Hulk comic but even so, the Norton version struck me as waaay too ripped and defined than any Hulk i'd ever seen images of from comic covers etc

Yeah, not that that is just US domestic box office, as making inflation adjusted comparisons for worldwide numbers is much more complex obviously due to the various currencies

My daughter loves Black Widow and is always heartbroken when we got to TRU and there's nothing. I just tell her Hasbro's a stupid company that thinks girls don't like to play with superheroes.

Are there no Black Widow toys or are they just hard to find? If they're just hard to find, I'll keep an eye out and send one her way if I manage to score one.

Same here, if i see one i'll grab for you Nam.

Do they even make them?

Stupid Hasbro.

They've already made that from us x2 as we bought tickets to see it more than once already.

I appreciate the offer guys, but Nick's right. They only made her in the Marvel Universe line (which she already has all the figures for). It's a shame Hasbro/Disney don't see the value in marketing Avengers to the girls, too. In the long run, the missed opportunity would've made them more money for the movies and merchandising. :(

Always thought TIH Hulk was Dale Keown inspired.

Nope, Keown's (even with his vascular disorder) looked more like Avengers than Norton's:

With the Cap toy you squeeze his legs together and his shield pops up.

I wonder what would pop out on BW's toy! :google
