Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I have a horrible feeling that this being a Joss Whedon film there is going to be way too much Black Widow stuff going on.

What? A fetish for beautiful-but-deadly asskicking babes in a Whedon flick?? Never happen! :lol

(Yeah . . . Scarlett's hawt & all, but I've seen women that can truly kick guy's ***** and they are lean, toned and nowhere near as soft and curvy as JoJo. Scarlett's like Hathaway--neither looks like they could even manage a single pull-up. :pigfly:)

Was at the cinema last night and noticed the standee for AVENGERS ASSEMBLE:)slap) advertised THREE different of types of 3D you can watch it in. IMAX 3D, real D and I forget the last. I searched in vain for microscopic print about a mention of 2D but found zilch:(

No doubt it will join the ranks below of highest grossing record holders but what's interesting is that 6 of the top 10 were originally released in 3D. Does that mean that 3D films have an unfair advantage because of the higher ticket price?

I doubt Avengers will make $1 billion.

And to answer your question, of course 3D gives an unfair advantage because of the higher ticket prices.

Moreover, due to inflation, the numbers are not really comparable over time. A $100MM grossing film in 1980 vs $100MM in 2012 is a massive difference in actual number of people who went to see it.

A fairer comparison is this, adjusted for inflation:

Can't you make a Custom? I mean, even with a barbie with the same type of hair, and get the black suit, Black Widow is not that hard to do though, she is pretty simple, like the new catwoman, pretty simple designs

She has the static Galactic Heroes Leia, Ahsoka, etc. and Superhero Squad Wasp, Widow, Jean Grey, etc., to use as stand-ins. It would just be nice to see something more official that matches so she can make them sit down in the vehicles, playsets, etc., with her brother.

As far as a 1/6 custom, no. I would imagine that customizing a Barbie to look like Black Widow would be fairly easy, but that would take daddy's time away from finishing her Monster High customs in between my own projects. :lol

Doubtful. My daughter would look at that, look at me and say, "Not sure what you're trying to pull, but does this-" *shoves doll at me* "-reeeeeeeeeally look like Black Widow to you?!" At which time I'd have to agree it doesn't. :lol
