I'm a Batman fan, so even if The Avengers blows The Dark Knight Rises out of the water, I'll still be the staunchest of allies to TDKR.

I'm really curious who takes the box office this year. Currently, everyone is shouting The Avengers from the rooftops, but one might be inclined to think that a big part of that is how close it is, and at this point, the anticipation is at its climax for most people. What we also have to remember is that The Avengers is just the beginning, a lot of people think that the other solo films set the foundation for The Avengers, but I think that The Avengers is not the pinnacle, but just another piece of the foundation for a larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Batman, however, marks the end of something. The stage has been set, and this is it. I'm willing to bet that once TDKR is only a few weeks away, people will realize that this may be the last time they see the caped crusader on the screen for what could be quite a while. I think that's when we'll see the battle heat up.

Not really. The reboot for Batman is already slated for 2015.

Another Batman reboot? Fuuuuhhh.... Getting sick of these Batman flicks. I don't mind the Nolan Batman flicks so much. But do we really need a new Batman franchise after two in the past 20 years? Man, it's like the Star Trek franchises. Holy McCroly!

Another Batman reboot? Fuuuuhhh.... Getting sick of these Batman flicks. I don't mind the Nolan Batman flicks so much. But do we really need a new Batman franchise after two in the past 20 years? Man, it's like the Star Trek franchises. Holy McCroly!

I don't remember, but Void would know. Imdb already has it listed too. They announced it a while back as well as Nolan being attached as an executive producer for the reboot.

I'm sure DC is kicking themselves for not making the Justice League movie when they had the chance. Marvel is way ahead of them when it comes to a larger movie universe with the chance for crossovers or a Justice League movie on the level of the Avengers. Imagine if Green Lantern had been a hit and Superman Returns had been given a sequel and we were anticipating a movie with those characters teaming up with Bale's Batman on the big screen this year. Marvel seems to have really planned things well, and DC is way behind with Nolan's Batman ending, Green Lantern failing, and a lot of pressure on the new Superman to perform.

But all of Marvel's groundwork over the last few years building up to Avengers is about to pay off, I think.

Marvel is way ahead of them when it comes to a larger movie universe with the chance for crossovers or a Justice League movie on the level of the Avengers. That's weird. I definitely prefer Marvel's approach. Maybe it's best that DC decided to wait on that one. You don't want one actor playing standalone Batman and another actor playing Justice League Batman.

That would be a huge disconnect for the audience and a very poor business decision.

I think that's one of Avengers' biggest pulls.

That's what I want to see--Thor fighting on earth with the massive power that was on display when he was battling the frost giants. Throwing his hammer through skulls, ripping the earth apart underfoot. Trashing the enemy. Then he was exiled and as soon as he got his power and hammer back, he easily defeated the Destroyer and left for home. I want him unleashed back on earth.

I agree that Ledger put that movie over the top. Hardy's Bane and Cathaway just won't be able to surpass the power of Ledger's performance combined with Eckhart's tragic Two Face. It will be a great movie, but I don't think it will make a billion dollars like TDK. Even the choice of title shows that they can't escape the shadow of the last film looming over the new one.

yeah but you have to see the big picture, Batman Begins didn't really have a strong "in your face" villain, Scarecrow barely really did much, I mean, the villains in Begins were more in the shadows since this was Batman's story, is true the joker stole the show, but i think rises will be fine, specially if the movie blows people's minds word of mouth will be what makes this. of course people will like it but once it gets out is going to be crazy, specially because is the last one,
bane and catwoman will not be better than joker, sure, but they will be more present than scarecrow and Ra's, that's all they need to be really. which they will

What makes it so ironic is that Marvel has sold off many of their big characters (Spider-man, X-men, Fantastic Four, etc) and they still pulled this off. WB/DC has everyone still, yet they can't get their stuff besides Batman off the ground. So Kudos to Marvel for beating the odds and better luck next time to DC.

That would be just another mistake for DC I think. Movie audiences are pretty dumb these days. They'd get confused when the movies don't connect, especially when they should. Having two different actors playing the same character would be weird, but it would be even stranger if its the same actor and the films still aren't connected. I think Marvel's win here with Avengers will have them thinking otherwise.

With a Justice League movie, they have built a foundation, from which they can spin out into the solo movies and delve deeper into the mythologies of the individual characters.

I wouldn't call it a fight really. Loki wants to do his speech of how a mortal cannot beat a god, and Hulk just grabs him by the leg, flings him from left to right on the ground a few times, and leaves a shocked Loki lying there
