Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I doubt they ignored it. More likely they threw a line at it and it got trimmed for time.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Maybe, but it's a pretty big deal I would think.

I guess it depends on the person. Comic book movies being based on comics...do the explanations really matter? I'm sure there was an amulet or something. :lol

But, yeah, you have to at least address your own setup. I'm sure there was something that either got cut or quickly mentioned and possibly overlooked by that critic. I'm trying to stay relatively spoiler-free so I haven't seen if this is something others have mentioned.

True.

Yeah, same here. I'm not even watching the trailers. I want to go in fresh.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

WOW......just WOW. I disagre 100% with EVERYTHING she said. Clearly, not only is she not the audience this film was made for, she doesn't know anything about comics either. Seeing that review just makes me sad for her, knowing that she doesn't know PURE AWESOME when it's played right in front of her.

As for the Thor coming back to Earth, don't know what she was smoking, but they DO explain how he gets back. They don't spell it out for you as to the step-by-step explanation on how he gets back (maybe that woman's limited mind needed that), but they do explain it.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Clearly her taste in movies sucks so she has no business being a film critic. I am curious about the Thor thing though. How could they NOT explain that? :dunno

It's already been reported that it was intentionally left out and will be explained in the Thor sequel. :wink1:

Not everyone is intelligent enough to understand Joss Whedon.

Simple as that
. :lecture

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Nah, some people just don't care for his voice. I love Whedon but he's very particular. I totally get why people don't like Buffy or Firefly.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Thrilled to see how well received this is being. Slightly concerned that seeing it is going to make me want all the figures. I must be strong, I must.

I planned to only get a few. And then I went to see Cabin in the woods (during my second viewing) and they played an Avengers trailer. The trailer is what made me decide to buy them all.

You are much stronger than me.

Fixed for accuracy. :lecture:lecture:lecture:exactly:

Looking over some of the stuff she's reviewed and the grades she's given, she must smoke crack before going. She gave the Dragonball movie a C- while any self-respecting critic would've gone past "Z" into numbers. :cuckoo:

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

That review doesn't shock me, even if she loved it in the age of everyone looking for their 15 minutes what do you think is going to get someone noticed more? Another good review or a bad review that shocks everyone to the point of getting people to write full articles about how astonished they are someone did it?

The review is fulled with attempts at humor and almost drips of someone trying to point out every flaw that would make nerds hyperventilate. She may have not actually liked it but I was bet that the review was written for a bit of notoriety.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

She said if it weren't for the other films, she would have no idea who the characters are.

Huh, I wonder why they made the other films.

:pow

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

What a moron. To be honest as soon as I saw her quote that compared this to transformers 3 I decided not to read her review.

See, this is what I'm talking about. I have yet to see one true Avengers tv spot. It's always either Red Baron, or Farmers.

Here's the Farmers one... :gah:
