Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Two words: Thoroughly Enjoyed! :clap

A Saturday evening well spent! And, no matter how many times it has been said:
The Hulk stole the show!

Will someone confirm this; just before the end credits start to roll...

...is it Thanos who was speaking with Loki?
There was this jerk who suddenly stood up at that very moment and I could just get a glimpe. What's with people, I don't understand!

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Thanks, checked the net too. Wow, is it filled with spoilers and stuff! Glad I do not have a fix with finding out about movies yet to be released. Try to avoid the movies thread as much as I can. Though its fun now to go back and check the spoliers in this thread! :)

Just got back from a screening of the Avengers. OMG, best comic book movie ever. Whedon takes his time setting the characters up, so we can get to know them and then all hell breaks loose.

And damn, Hulk smashed! Hard...

No, it wasn't, mate. It was:

Thanos speaking with the leader of the Chitauri (in the end credits they call him The Other)

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Just got home from the theatre:

What do you guys think of how Captain America was handled? To me he was actually the most boring one because he had no relationship to begin with with the other characters or the whole situation. There was great dept in the other characters, the movie started off nicely with each of the characters and all of them had individual struggles and problems to deal with, but Captain America was just plain boring.
He wasn't anything special in the action scenes either, but that was expected because he is supposed to be an old fashioned soldier from WW2,and when you compare his skills to Thor,Ironman and Hulk,Yeah well...
I just think he was handled wrong, not the mighty Leader he is supposed to be

An overall entertaining superhero movie though.

actually, i kinda disagree. i think he was handled quite well and his fight style in the avengers was way better than in his own standalone movie, which to me was a real wasted opportunity. it also showcased his leadership qualities much better. the only thing i wasn't too satisfied with was the zero attention paid to his story arc from the end of his film. they should've at least acknowledged his sense of loss of his lady love. it would've made his presence in our timeline more poignant. even thor got a scene to address that.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Can somebody explain to me..

why Banner was suddenly able to control Hulk the second time he turned ?, sure he punched Thor but I felt there wasn't enough explanation as to why he suddenly decided it was fine to Hulk out and trust himself to not start attacking random people. Maybe a scene with a longer talk with black widow about controlling his rage and feeling bad for almost killing her would have helped.

When on the carrier Loki is controlling Hulk or influencing him through his sceptre, this is confirmed when Banner subconsciously grabs the sceptre

The secret banner had the whole time is that he has learned to control Hulk at least that's what I understood. Stark had a suspicion this was the case and that's hinted at throughout stark and Banner's conversation

It's all much clearer on the 2nd viewing lol

he said he was always angry. he can turn it on and off, a little trick he wanted to show.
:dunno

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I think it's because the times where he went berserk as Hulk, he was at a different level of angry. I think when Banner gets overcome with rage, & transforms unwillingly, the Hulk goes berserk. But since he was "kinda" angry when he transformed into Hulk willingly, Banner might have been able to control Hulk a bit better. Well, that's one theory anyway :lol

In regards to Hulk; he 'suits' up quicker than the rest of the team. That scene from him transforming into Hulk in the final battle untill the camera does a 360 shot of the team is amazing!

I seriously got goosebumps during the end. I was surprised that Banner could change so easily too. But boy was it epic!

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

You guys are missing the point

It was LOKI that was influencing Banner on the helicarrier. That's the only reason he lost control there.
