Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

I grabbed a full set of these posters at SDCC. That looks great. Where did you get the frame?

Thanks. I had it framed at Hobby Lobby. The cost was $205 for a pretty nice frame. There was another frame I liked a little more that made the red tones pop in the posters....but it would have cost me about $100 more.

I just won a set of those posters on eBay. Wonder how much it would cost to frame them like that?

$205 at Hobby Lobby. It all depends on the frame you pick out though.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

The poster the week after SDCC were BIN $100.00 for all seven ($14.28 each), now $150.00 ($21.42 each). :gah:

Guess I need to take my signature's advise more seriously. :slap

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Just think of it this way (unless you have a bunch of extra money), Poster on the wall or a shiny new Hot Toys figure? Personally, I would go for the figure over the colorful paper lol. If i had enough money I'd get it though, without a doubt!

I subscribe to the notion that a good poster that has appropriate dimensions and placement can greatly enhance a collection.

This horizontal Avengers poster set when framed will look great as a main center banner piece above a Marvel collection with vertical posters on each side of the collection.

But with an Avengers theme as the top vertical piece, the collector needs to continue with the Avengers theme for the side posters.

Wow, I subscribe to that same notion also.:hi5:

And what you suggested is similar to what I did.

As most know, my collection is in my basement. So I decided to really enhance the "entrance" to the madness. Along the top wall of the staircase is the large Avengers poster.

Under that are the individual posters for: Iron Man, Hulk and Captain America....I still need to pick up a Thor.

As you're going down the staircase these are all to your left. Straight ahead as you go down into madness are Spiderman 3 and Batman Dark Knight Returns. To the right going down the staircase are 300, 30 Days of Night and Serenity.

I'll post an updated pic in my collection thread.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Agent M: Now we're seeing footage! Kevin says we're not releasing this anywhere.

-Loki's being locked in a giant prison cell completely lined with windows
-Loki! In a holding cell! A SHIELD cell!
-Nick Fury is threatening Loki!
-Nick Fury says that if Loki tries to escape, the cell gets dropped from the bottom of the Helicarrier...30,000 feet straight down "It's an impressive cage."
-Nick and Loki allude to the cage being made to hold the Hulk!
-Fury is steppin' right up to Loki and he looks pissed!
-Loki's looking at the camera knowing that Banner's watching, poiinting out that they built this prison cell for the Hulk
-Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill!!! Watching them on the monitors.
-Captain America's watching this all on a helicarrier monitor.
-Bruce Banner on Loki: He really grows on you, doesn't he.
-Hawkeye let loose an arrow!
-Showing Fury talking about bringing the team together. Shots of everyone
-Quick clips now. Fury talking about his idea to assemble all the heroes together.
-RDJ is sizing up the team. In his Tony Stark way.
-FOOTAGE OF HULK! Roaring. CROWD JUST WENT NUTS
-GIGANTIC, DEAFENING STANDING OVATION for Robert Downey Jr. & #TheAvengers cast at #D23Expo [via Twitter]
-Joss Whedon, Sam Jackson, Mark Ruffalo and Chris Evans are literally filming as we speak in Cleveland, so they couldn't make it!
-RDJ has requested to see the footage again, so we're seeing the footage again!
-Lord, Thor's arms are MASSIVE.
-"You talk about peace and you kill cuz it's fun." - Fury to Loki
-Loki looks even more menacing than he did in Thor...wow!
-Loki's hair looks longer. Maybe that's just me.
-Renner also using guns. But he has a full quiver of arrows on his back.
-Tony Stark is doing a headcount of the Avengers: A couple of master assassins, a demigod, a living legend who kind of lives up to the legend
-Iron Man and somone battling. Maybe Thor?
-And the last scene of Tony Stark talking? It was to Loki!
-To Loki: "And you, big fella, managed to piss off every one of them." Loki: "I have an army." Stark: "We have a Hulk!"
-Another HUGE ovation for The Avengers.
-Stark, "We have a Hulk" Best. Line. Ever.!!!!!!
-AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!

Still no official word on who the villains will be joining Loki or what is in the MoCap suits.

Re: The Avengers: The Motion Picture Discussion Thread

Here is a just posted from an attendee viewing of the footage:

We’ve seen the first footage from The Avengers!
The first extended look at The Avengers just premiered at Disney's D23 Expo. Here's our spoiler-y rundown of what we saw. Here's the spoiler-free version: everything we saw looked like an awesome mix of epic, funny, and badass.
The footage began with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in prison on board the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) addresses Loki through the clear panels of the cage: "In case it's unclear, if you try to escape, you so much as tap on the glass..." Fury then flicks a switch and the floor of the cage almost completely drops away, revealing a 30,000 foot drop to certain doom (or as certain as doom can be with someone like Loki).

Loki simply observes, "It's an impressive cage", and he notes that it was clearly built for someone else. Fury says that it was - it was built for someone even stronger than him. Loki knows they're talking about the Hulk, calling him a mindless beast and wondering how desperate Fury must be to ally himself with the likes of such a creature. At this point we see all the various personnel who are listening into this conversation, including Hulk's human alter ego Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders).

Loki wonders what it must feel for Fury to have been so close to wielding the power of the Cosmic Cube, and how devastating it must be for all that to have slipped away. Fury accuses Loki of talking about peace and then killing for fun, and he tells Loki, "You have made me very desperate. You might not be glad that you did." Loki asks him what it must be like to be in the presence of real power - to which Fury simply replies, "Let me know if real power wants a magazine or something", and walks away from the cage. The Avengers look at the prisoner on the video monitors, as Bruce Banner caustically observes, "He really grows on you, doesn't he?"

The footage then shows a bunch of action sequences, including a fighter jet flying over a city, an explosive truck chase, and - most intriguingly - a shot of Captain America and Thor apparently fighting each other, with Thor about to bring the hammer down on Cap's shield. All the while, we hear Nick Fury explain the mission statement of the Avengers: "There was an idea to bring together a group of remarkable, to see if they could become more. To fight the battles we never could."

But the most epic exchange comes at the end, as Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) is behind a bar counter, mixing himself a drink. He describes his teammates: "Let's do a head count. We've got a couple master assassins, a demigod, and a living legend who kinda lives up to the legend" - that'd be Black Widow and Hawkeye, Thor, and Captain America. It's then that we learn Stark is talking to Loki: "And you, big fella, have managed to piss off every single one of them."

To this, Loki responds, "I have an army." Stark's eminently quotable and awesome response? "We have a Hulk." We then see the Hulk roar, and the footage ends. While it's still early days - indeed, filming is still two weeks from completion - this is looking very, very good so far.
