Why isn't this thread Avatard vs The Avengers? Clearly they are better than anything Nolan has ever done.

Shrek 2 is both the number six film of all time domestically and one of the worst movies I've ever seen. That list is accurate but meaningless when it comes to quality.

The list. The list of bull____.

https://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/

https://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted.htm

This is the list that means anything IMO, when comparing BO numbers of all time.

Adjusted for inflation = comparing actual numbers of people who went to see it, or the closest thing to that comparison that is available

Unfortunately, it's only for US domestic numbers, as adjusting for inflation across worldwide numbers is far more complex and nigh impossible.

Quality yes, absolutely, means nothing.

The movies you love and hold so dear to your hearts better make that useless list though if you ever want to see a sequel to them.

:lol

If only the media and pop culture at large cared about the Adjusted box office list :(

It's funny that after 3 years of listening to "TDK is the greatest comic book movie ever" now suddenly it shouldn't be compared to other comic book movies. :lol

You hit the nail square on the head with that one! :exactly:
Rabid TDK fans display a whopping double standard.

Nolan did a decent job of grafting his Batman onto Heat.
Michael Mann still shoots better action scenes, though. :wink1:

Iron Man was the best comicbook film of 2008.

Simply more fun! :snake

But they don't. Hence why I said "The list of bull____".

I know. And I agree. The non adjusted (inflated) numbers are pretty much the only ones that get touted, including Hollywood itself. That's frustrated me for years... at least since 1997, when Titanic was awarded the false "Box Office Champ" crown.

What I find lacking in TDK are the action scenes.

Pure adrenalin action, Avengers crushes TDK!

Crushes I said!

Now don't tell me TDK wasn't an action movie void. :lol

I thought the #1 rule of Sideshow Freaks was that we never talked about Sideshow Freaks.:rotfl:rotfl
Oh well, I've been a member of the forum for too long, so I forgot all the rules anyway.

You are in violation of Sideshow Freaks Rule #1.

You are not allowed to like more than one Superhero blockbuster movie at a time.

Oh wait yes you can, TDK isn't a Superhero movie.

You are cleared to proceed loving both. :lol

Yeah, it's sad, but more $$$$ in nominal terms will always be touted as some 'true comparison', when in fact, its not even close.
The average person doesn't grasp the concept of nominal terms vs real terms.

Double standard :lol

Fine, categorize them in the same bucket then - so Avengers falls to #3 at BEST :lol

Nolan versus Whedon. *sigh.

We're getting quality films dealing with comic book genre topics/characters. Isn't that enough?
