The Batman (June 25, 2021)

Watched BB for the first time in maybe 5 years last night. It still holds up as a solid and satisfying film but definitely isn't on the level of The Batman. Rachel is annoying throughout and some of the pontificating and accompanying melodrama feels silly but it's still a really good origin story with solid performances and action throughout.

I did find it hard not to be distracted with how they "cheated" on Bruce's abilities. Things like him grabbing Falcone with two hands and then magically lifting up into the sky. How, a jetpack? Lol

But it will always be one hell of a palette cleanser from Batman & Robin that continues to influence how comic book films (including TB) are made to this day.

Yeah the climax of TDK could’ve been a lot better, but the same can be said for the Batman. I found the Riddlers master plan to be “awesome” too up until the flooding of Gotham bit at the end. That felt really forced. He finally got what he wanted and exposed the deep corruption in Gotham and then instead of targeting the corrupt he tries to kill everyone…? The entire third act fell flat for me. I still enjoyed the movie as a whole.

Riddler suddenly working with a group like that didn't make sense. He felt very much like a loner type.

Question for anyone who might know, but does HBO Max not support 5.1 audio? I tried playing this the other night but noticed a few of the speakers weren’t working. I looked online and apparently, at least on PS4, only select titles support it. I was a bit surprised since they directly say it has Dolby audio on the title screen.

I was listening to the Nirvana Unplugged album yesterday, which I haven't listened to in years. They went into Something in the Way, and I immediately got all moody. I had totally forgotten that was Nirvana's song.

Picked up the Art Book at B&N today. Great stuff. I love the inclusion of all the sketches. Takes me back to the SW Sketchbooks.

It would consist of one of each other than BvS which would get 3…

Yeah TDK-TDKR would be near duplicates

I didn't realize until the Art Book pointed it out that Pattinson's cowl was made to look like a skull. I mean I guess I realized it without realizing it while watching the movie but yep his eyes totally look like they're sunken into these big skull sockets.

They also made a point to say that Selina isn't Catwoman yet and that her current homemade outfit is only supposed to hint at what she'll eventually become.
