I finally watched this yesterday. It was way too long, and probably drawn out a bit more than it needed to be. With that said, I thought it was the best “gritty” Batman live action movie.
Catwoman was so sexy. The scenes where Batman absolutely dominated and manhandled her were hot. I really enjoyed Bruce reading his journal as a narrator. The suit looked great in the movie, probably because it’s so dark, and he’s got this heaviness to him. Suitably intimidating. I love how his mask just soaked up all light making it this pitch black void with his eyes very vibrant. Dude has a great jawline for the mask, the falcon dude is on suicide watch after seeing this, no doubt. The gadgets were great, the wingsuit sequence I enjoyed as well.
Gordon was great, but that was expected. Great actor. Penguin was such a goofy wiseguy caricature but he worked. Falconi was good too, but again, great actor. Riddler was ok I suppose, to be honest I don’t remember much of his actual performance other than he came across too much as someone trying to see sO uNhINgeDDD. The end bit with Joker was lame, dude sounded like a 15 year old kid. Enough with the Joker, and enough with the whole scarred lips routine.
Didn’t notice too much “wokeness” like I’ve seen complaints of. There certainly were some cheesy parts, like the white male privilege line, but doesn’t really bother because at the end of the day the hero, the badass, the archetype is still white mf’n Batman, and the chick who said it fell for him was all over him anyway LOL. Regardless though, keep any of that **** out of superhero flicksdon’t worry, people won’t miss that messaging as it’s in plenty of other places.
Looking forward to watching again and trying to remain strong and not get the Hot Toys to go with all my other movie Batmen.
