TDK fools you into thinking you're an intellect for liking it.

Then you walk around all snobby thinking fans who like the MCU are cavemen.

Well, TDK is fascinating.

This is a good video about the Batman, Harvey, and Joker and how the themes of identity are a major part of the story and the three main characters. It really shows how important Batman actually is in the story, despite most people seeing the film as a Joker film. Good stuff.

TDK is just textbook psychology 101. Teenagers learn that **** in AP Psychology and philosophy. It's no deeper than Kim Kardasian's bum hole.

How come it's always people from the UK making those analysis videos too? Them brits in particular love them some Nolan Batman and Heath Ledger Joker. That's like the 6th one I've seen in a month. That Oliver Harper dude (I think he's from London or something) spent a good 40 mins fellating Batman Begins whereas his other Batman, Terminator, Indiana Jones, Robocop retrospective reviews were lucky to hit over 12 minutes.

Must be something about Nolan's dour, drab style that reels em' in.

That explains it. I was 4 years old when I finally used the potty (I lied to them, I really **** in my diapers and threw them away) and I was rewarded with a Super Powers Batman.

So when I see a cool looking Japanese import Spidey figure with awesome articulation, the reason for me wanting it is as a way to have some kind of control? Don't buy it.

Said the guy who hasn't taken a solid dump in years.

Yeah, but those teenagers are too busy playing video games. Still, applying it to characters and a story successfully isn't easy.

Still, applying it to characters and a story successfully isn't easy.

That's true. Anything can go wrong when you're making a movie.

Look at BvS. There are a ton of compelling ideas and themes running through it (some of the symbolism and concepts might even be bigger than TDK's). But it's not handled as well and falls flat.


Hopefully with The Batman the filmmakers involved catch their stride.

I keep reading how MCU is safe, how Cap and IM were buddies at the end of CW (wasn't Magneto friends with Professor X after all of that world destruction ).

Who goes into a superhero movie expecting the hero to die, they don't even stay dead in their origin books!

I go to these movies knowing already these characters will always be protected at all costs.

Even the Netflix shows which are being hailed as the most well written grounded and grittiest superhero properties out right now have superheroes who will survive everything that is thrown at them.

So because I don't walk in expecting primary characters to die I instead expect to be entertained by a jumping black Tumbler, quirky lines from Batman to the Penguin, Cap's shield defying the laws of gravity, epic team battles, Joker getting under Batman's skin, WW's rousing arrival, urine revenge plot, memorable music, batwing eclipsing the moon, white hair jor-el, 70's manhattan, beautiful chicago, swinging 3D Spidey, antman riding an arrow tip and jaw dropping hand to hand combat.

If they have a decent enough plot with an intimidating villain (MCU needs work there), great cgi, my family is with me and I have good popcorn in my hand i'm good to go.

I don't go to these hoping the movie gives my life purpose, I go to see Joker **** with Batman and Cap throw his shield!

I wouldn't trade my midnight show experience of watching Hulk smashing Loki with an incredible crowd of like minded individuals for any of that auteur deep meaning filmmaking crap!

Have fun waiting for your perfect superhero movie and being disappointed with every release because i'm going to enjoy that Batman warehouse battle and Cap taking down a quinjet on his own.

I guess if that makes me a simpleton who doesn't know true art if it slapped me across the face then so be it, I hate opera anyway.

That being said....

MCU > WBCU

Pshh...while you simpletons enjoyed your green monster, I was too busy experiencing the black and white silent masterpiece without subtitles, "Le Meh'Bollcheet" by Alexandre du Yannick, while eating imported cheese and crackers and a bottle of Dom Perignon.

Those films always had the coolest posters/VHS covers.

Usually the VHS covers were better than the films. Games did that too.

Forget about it, I simultaneously worked at 2 VHS movie rental stores in my youth and my collection of posters and cardboard stands was beyond epic!

I sold every item when buying my house.

I hate myself.

I'll never forget this big bald head tattoo contractor dude who came to the store in 1984 and opened up this huge book of naked girls on the counter and said he was a porn producer and asked if I wanted to leave my family to go with him to paradise in his big van.

That was our exact idea while making Cannibal Campout, we knew that the box art just had to be better than the movie.

It wasn't that hard.

The company that bought the rights to distribute CC was a gay male porn company in the 80's.

I saw a review of CC on IMDB. This was my favorite line

"we'd rented it expecting a moronic horror movie where everyone in the film is a total moron and they all die violently. However, what we got was not just that, what we rented set the standard for every other moronic teen horror film"

Still, he or she said it was the funniest film ever made, and highly recommended it.

I've never read that review and i've read most.
Fangoria gave us a glowing review.

Disney was nowhere in sight either.

There is a t-shirt of the movie making its rounds at the convention circuit.

BB/TDK are brillant, TDKR is garbage though.

But my point is that the brilliance of BB/TDK does not invalidate what the MCU has been able to give fans of those characters.

I don't label Feige as an incompetent hack who lacks artistic qualities.

Why would I, the guy is a genius and I appreciate everything he's done to support these characters.

BB/TDK are brillant, TDKR is garbage though.

But my point is that the brilliance of BB/TDK does not invalidate what the MCU has been able to give fans of those charscters.
