Re: Ben Affleck Batman film

I like X1/2. I'll give FC/DOFP fans the benefit of acknowledging my own disenchantment. Apoc was pure cruise-control to me. I honestly don't think there's any one factor in any X-Men movie that is superior to any other CBM except for maybe Jackman's Wolverine. But even that is like thinking of Indy if Raiders was only as good as Last Crusade and the rest were Crystal Skull or worse.

Re: Ben Affleck Batman film

He loses his cool and becomes a blithering, spitting idiot in 2 seconds flat at the mere mention of RACHEL.

I never understood why Batman would want all the lights on in the interrogation room, exposing himself to not just the Joker, but to all the GCPD as well. Kinda goes against intimidation tactics and what Batman's MO is all about. Joker actually looks kind of scared and uneasy when Gordon abruptly leaves and closes/locks the door. He definitely doesn't know what to expect. Then, on come the lights and oh, it's just Batman in one of his silliest suits to date. Kind of hard to fear Batman when he's gracing your presence in all of his glory right there in front of you in full lighting. Doesn't leave much to the imagination and doesn't paint Batman in a very competent light. :lol Now I don't think Batman should always come out on top as an unstoppable bad ass, but he looks really pathetic and goofy in most of the two Dark Knight movies. Even when he finally stops the and outwits the Joker he's huffing and puffing, crouching and sounding like Daffy Duck, talking with his tongue.

Still, I love that scene. It's definitely Ledger's best. I was grinning from ear to ear when he starts howling with laughter as Batman punches him in the face, mouth agape in confusion when I first saw it in theaters.

I like Joker talking to Dent in the hospital best. That was a point whereI didn't know exactly where the story was going.

Batman being exposed by the Joker and the light is one of the reasons I like the scene :)

There was also a nice contrast of Batman in control and being completely still, while joker was constantly moving, but that changes eventually when Bats loses that power.

As only you could deconstruct. :lol

Damn I love reading your Batman posts even when you're not trying.

Heh, reminds me of Ben Affleck telling how embarrassed he was when he appeared at his son's birthday party in full Batman gear in front of all the other parents.

He was all "Batman is really sexy at night. At 10:00 in the morning? Not so much." :lol

Re: Ben Affleck Batman film

Don't get me wrong, the scene works in favor of Joker to a great degree. That's what makes it so awesome. The only downside is that it makes Batman look pathetic. Now, maybe not as pathetic as Deadshot throwing his jacket over Batman's head and shooting him point blank in the forehead, causing Batman to fall down to the pavement like a lump of **** (Afflecks's dead eyed expression with the bullet wound smoking cracked me up), but still.

I'd argue that the Bale Batman has few scenes of badassery. Even when he's trying to be cool ("no, I came back to stop you", "now you have my permission to die") he comes off as a complete spazz. His best moments are quieter ones imo.

Re: Ben Affleck Batman film

I'll take X1,X2, First Class, and DOFP over most MCU movies, but I still give the MCU credit for creating a large interconnected universe that pays off with films like the Avengers, and the fact that the MCU is not only exploring other worlds, dimensions, but also the the cosmos, and before X Men and DC did it, it's impressive.

Oh and X Men Apocalypse >>> IM2, Thor 2, and Hulk.

IM2 got the best Mondo print out of the bunch though :lol

The good FoX-Men movies do action and drama far better than anything we've seen in the MCU and the DCEU.

Also, villains, something the MCU has failed horribly at, and the DCEU has mostly done a horrible job at.

I also think the acting performances are far better in a FoX-Men movie. In all honesty I think everything is better in the good FoX-Men except for maybe the huge CGI super-heroic action set pieces.

Re: Ben Affleck Batman film

BB rain interrogation scene is also top notch.

In 2005 we were all holy crap Batman is back with a vengeance! :lol

Meh, he was trying too hard.

Plus, he kept throwing the guy and pulling him up like a yoyo, which isn't very threatening when you think about it :lol He pretty much gave himself away as someone who doesn't kill.

He even put the guy down easy on the ground after he was done.

Now when he threw Maroni off the building in TDK, that was scary.

I thought he was pretty badass for most of Batman Begins. I think he had a good amount of badass scenes in TDK as well, going to Hong Kong to bring Lau back to Gotham, going to the club beating up Maroni's goons and dropping off the balcony, and he had a few badass scenes as Bruce as well, my favorite being disarming and knocking out one of Joker's goons with their weapon.

I'll definitely admit though, I wish he didn't have such an attachment to Rachel.

But seriously, what Batman movie has been made when he doesn't completely abandon all badassery because of his affection over a woman?

So you're saying Flass should've manned up and not spilled the beans because he knew Batman wouldn't have killed him. :lol

Re: Ben Affleck Batman film

I thought Batman had a lot of "badass" moment in Begins.

His intro when he's taking out all the guys was unlike anything that had been done with batman on film, and maybe the best Batman intro so far.

There was also the Arkham scene when he jumps with all the bats.

Also, when he rescues Rachel from the thugs and we see an out of focus black thing beating someone brutally, followed by this shot

And one of my favorite moments, which is very comicbooky.

I wouldnt say they do anything "far" better. Maybe two great action sequences (Nightcrawler and Quicksilver) and drama is super muddled by bad continuity, mediocre writing. But to each their own. I think TWS/CW together own every element over the entire x-series.

Yup, Baleman "threw" him twice and saved him. I'd be like, "You're going to kill me or keep spiting on me?" :lol

Reminds me of, "Or perhaps he's wondering why someone would shoot a man, before throwing him out of a plane?" Empty threat.
