I can't stand Gotham despite how good it looks because of the source material. It's a cool cop drama, with some nice easter eggs but not huge for it.

If you go into it expecting something closer to The Animated Series, you're going to be disappointed. It's very reflective of the silver age Batman of the books from that time period, and it's very zany. It's a fun show, but it's more comical than anything you'd see today (though the closest I've seen is The Brave and The Bold, so, if you liked that, chances are you'll love this). It's not a straight-up comedy, but it's very clever and self-aware. They really play up how over-the-top it is with a wink and a nod, if you will. It's wildly entertaining, though, and it's still the same Batman that you know and love, at its core. I'd also like to add that, while it does play up the ridiculousness in a satirical way, it's never disrespectful of the character. It's an amazing show in that they were able to balance everything so well.

As a kid, I took it as seriously as I took The Animated Series, but, as an adult, you pick up on a lot of the nuances. There's quite a bit of innuendo, and it's just a remarkably witty show. I could go on for hours, but I think you get the gist.

Me too...so I just ordered it

Cost me about £20 delivered which isn't too bad...If Shout Factory shipped to the UK I'd expect it to be around the same cost so not really losing out.
