They're still finalizing the 4K bluray cost, but we're looking at between $45-$60 for a movie, not counting the discounts.

But you're right, 1080p still looks great!

Well, at least mine does. :yess:

I sold my Plasma Kuro 4 years ago and never looked back, best picture hands down, you're right.

But there are reasons why Kuro tech / Plasmas are dead!

Electricity hogs, heavy for a flat panel (all that metal and glass), hot, image retention, and not thin.

4K OLED will be the legitimate replacement for Plasma, it even comes with image retention so its right at home! :lol

But besides that, it doesn't have any of the other draw backs.

Yes, 4K OLED looks as good, if not better, than those Kuros.

Now that being said, rear lit 4K LED TVs are not slacking off.

To combat OLED they are coming out with their combined HDR technology which includes quantum dot (nano crystals) contrast enhancements with wider color gamut and 10bit (deep color, finally) color depths which when combined will finally move us away from Rec 709 (90's tech) and get us closer to Rec 2020.

Ok, maybe not Rec 2020, not 2016 generation anyways.

May Plasma rest in peace.

I picked up my non-smart, non-3D Samsung 60" Plasma in 2012 for $800. The same screen with 3d and apps was $3K. It was a sweet deal for a great picture. I plan on my next replacement be a projector/smaller tv combo. I'll use a 50ish inch tv during the day, projector at night for movies...in the same room. I don't have the space for a dedicated theater room, but I still want the big screen impact for movie night.

Stay away from 4K displays, useless at the moment! :lol

Hell, useless below 65" (some argue 70").

But won't be useless come 2016 and passive 3D will also benefit from it.

I've seen 4K Avengers on a 65" 4K OLED from a 4K source, ummmm..WOW!

Japan is already experimenting with 8K displays. :google

They say it looks 3 dimensional.

8k?? How is that possible- eye can only go so far to pick out extremes in detail??

I saw 4k at WalMart:lol and it looked amazing...to me!

Don't worry, we won't be seeing 8k anytime soon anyways. :lol

Unless you're one of the Arab Emirates, Japanese or South Korean Prime Minister, Brad Pitt, Lucas, Spielberg or Cameron. :lol

Yes, 8K is like dying and going to resolution heaven.

What the hell is 7D :lol

7D is a very advanced and expensive version of the PS4 Playroom. You interact with holograms, mostly animals for the kiddies and naked girls behind closed doors.

I hear anything is possible in Dubai. Anything.

Their police cars are Bugatti's, so you're right.

They party alot harder than people think they do.

And to think I just got content with my 1080p LED. :slap :lol

:lol

Also people shouldn't get the D and K confused.

3D or 7D is just a gimmick for immersion, but they are still presented in 4K cinema.

Max Max 4-Film Anthology on blu-ray 9/1/15. Standalone Fury Road blu-ray also assumedly on that day.

Since I don't own TRW or BT I'll be picking up the box set.

I don't buy blu ray collections any more, for the most part. Studios use it as an excuse to use cheapo packaging for the discs and usually don't pass the savings on to consumers...but even if it's cheaper I prefer individual releases in a quality case w/artwork.
