Another reason I went active :)

Actually let me rephrase what I wrote to Khev regarding the cross talk that happens with active 3D.

When I said that the Active wouldn't improve with 4K, i'm referring to his specific question about the ghosting (cross talk), and like I had mentioned, crosstalk has already improved even with just 1080.

I do believe that Active 3D will look incredible at 4K because each eye will now be getting 2160 to each eye, i'm sure that's going to look incredible!

That being said, I was on the active full resolution per eye hype myself for quite awhile, I still have it in the home.

But I could no longer take the eye strain and headaches associated with those damn shutters.

Passive is a lot less irritating to me, I would rather deal with less resolution then eye strain and headaches, plus the glasses are much cheaper!

But yes, Passive 3D needs 4K just to give the same resolution that Active gives now at 1080.

Sorry to make it more confusing Khev. :lol

Stay away from 4K displays, useless at the moment! :lol

Hell, useless below 65" (some argue 70").

But won't be useless come 2016 and passive 3D will also benefit from it.

I've seen 4K Avengers on a 65" 4K OLED from a 4K source, ummmm..WOW!

Japan is already experimenting with 8K displays. :google

They say it looks 3 dimensional.

I hear the blu ray 4k disc format will be introduced this year. Players and discs should be available by the holiday season. I'm all for upgrading my equipment to the latest and greatest, but the returns are beginning to diminish when you get beyond 1080P resolution IMO. Especially when you have to upgrade every component including the TV or projector.

Seriously? So 4K is the future? I always figured by the time the tech trickled down to me they'd be on 8K. :lol

I want a 70" so bad. But good to know to wait.

Will this effect my blu-ray library in any way? I'm so sick of the constant upgrading. I really only just caught up with blu-ray.

Nope, you'll be fine. 1080p will still look great on a 4K display.

That being said, there are definitely movies in my library that I will upgrade to 4K.

480 dvd (regular non bluray dvd) will also look just fine.

But a 480p dvd on an 8K display will probably look like a VHS tape. :lol

No need to worry, we won't be seeing 8K displays here for another 10 years.

Well, the very wealthy will a tad bit sooner than that. :lol

Until I can buy a 4k projector, I am good.
