I still have years of movies looking like this at home permanently burned into my memory:

So if 4K HDR becomes standardized (with an option for 3D) and they get the big gun studios to commit their flagship titles to the format sure I'll climb aboard. But until then I'll always be happy with 1080p widescreen due to the image above. :)

:lol :lol :lol

State of the art home theater back in the day:

Including a....

... shoe shiner? WTF?!

lol

Whichever format the porn industry is using will win.... no matter how much more inferior it is over the competitors. :lol

If you want a very inexpensive "good enough" 4K/HDR player that ALSO is a great gaming machine then absolutely buy it, just remember it doesn't do true 4K gaming, it upconverts but it does output appropriate 4K/HDR bluray movies, unlike the PS4 Pro which is absurd.

It's an excellent choice if you're trying to get the best bang for your buck but right now it only outputs HDR10 which honestly is ok especially if you own a Vizio, Samsung or Sony tv (my biggest pet peeve remains 3D)

I still think Dolby Vision is going to lose to HDR10 even though DV is technically the superior of the 2.

Only you can make that decision, but make that decision by today lol.

Me thinks that DV might only be used for streaming content but we'll see. HDR10 has to be on every UHD disc as it's the standard as well.

Supposedly DV can scale up to 12bit with its dynamic metadata but honestly what good is the higher ceiling if the discs will be encoded to just send out a static 10bit packet.

If you have a 25 foot ceiling but only a 15 foot ladder...well. :lol

The Black Friday deals for the Xbox One S were too good to pass up, so I caved. I ordered three (relax, two of them are being returned :lol) because I couldn't decide on which bundle I wanted. I originally ordered the 1TB Battlefield 1 Early Enlister bundle in "black", since my TV, TV stand, and all other gear is in black. Then I realized that it's actually olive green (looked black in the photos on Target's website). So I ordered the 500 GB Battlefield bundle in white, which I'm going to end up keeping. On Monday, I picked up the 1TB Gears of War 4 Bundle; I prefer the Gears series to the Battlefield series, and double the memory (1 TB) for only $50 seemed like a no brainer...but then I realized I don't need 1 TB of storage. I'm an OG gamer who's owned every system since the original NES (only passing on the Wii U), but my game time has significantly decreased in the last seven years or so as my kids have gotten older.

Now I only need a 4K TV to play 4K movies...

I'd keep the 1TB, games these days use a lot of space. On average a game by itself is about 45 gigs. Toss in add ons or updates, and that **** will fill up quick.

I have the JS9000 curved, hoping that's good enough lol. Guy on craigslist is selling me the 2016 model of the UBD k8500, so now I'm thinking if that's worth it lol. I don't know **** about audio either, so don't get me started lol.

Either way, I plan to upgrade all my **** on a 4 to 5 year basis.

Well i'll be, The Pacific ended up being the tin version for $10.00! :thud:

Band of Brothers was not the tin and it also cost $10.00 but unlike the Pacific it came with digital copies!

WIN/WIN!
