I'm just looking forward to pics. Although I'll be getting mine soon, I won't be able to display it anywhere for some time. :(

EDIT: Just got my processing notice - They begin on Aug 3. :rock :rock

It's happened before, if the regulars came before the exclusives it'll happen. It is pretty rare though.

As for the rewards points, you get about 5% with your purchase, but buying through a dealer you usually save about 10%. I usually only order regular edition stuff from Sideshow if I'm really excited and don't want to wait for it or am not sure if I will keep it or not. As for these dinos thought, I'm going exclusive all the way.

Seems as if all orders will be processed on the third, from what I'm hearing. Now that you mention it, Marvel regular editions have on occasion shipped prior to the exclusives. Also, I have a great deal of reward points banked for this bad boy. Very thrilled that I'll be knocking a substantial amount off the price.

I'm the same when it comes to exclusives. I'll be getting every exclusive for Dinosauria, but a number of exclusives from other lines often don't captivate my interest. I can go without the nameplates for the Marvel LSBs, I don't need a special exclusice display stand for Star Wars 1/6 figures, but the skulls of prehistoric creatures to couple with the statues which depict them? I'm there.

Goes without saying at this point, but I got my processing e-mail as well. Had a bear of a time posting due to both work and site maintenance. Seeing it in person is a joy I am anticipating immensely.

Reward points are really nice of Sideshow, its a great program and I'm glad they instituted it. I'm trying to hold on to mine until I get something I really want and can't afford without them. I just may use the on the Rex vs. Tri piece.

Looking at Sideshow's FAQ, it looks like each reward point (each being earned by the dollar) is worth 5 cents toward a new purchase. Is that right?

Yep, 20 rewards points give you $1 off your next Sideshow product through Sideshow's website. So for purchasing, say, the Styracosaurus maquette, you receive 210 points and are essentially getting $10.50 towards your next purchase with Sideshow. Most of us bank our points for a while and then add them up for a great deal off one individual product. It's a fantastic system that they have going for them. That combined with the exclusives and that they don't have cancellation fees are why a lot of us end up purchasing from them frequently rather than many other retailers of their products.

I guess it might seem appealing to someone who habitually spent hundreds of dollars on statues. Correct me if my math is wrong, but isn't this essentially the same as getting 5% off their normal price?

Yes, you are correct. Most of the time, one can get a better deal by not ordering directly from Sideshow. I think it comes down to exclusives and piece of mind most of the time.

So if Sideshow basically sells their product for 5% below retail using this "reward" system, how is that preferable to getting through another retailer, who can instantly take up to 10% off the retail price without requiring any loyalty from the customer? Or am I missing something?

Like I had mentioned in my previous post, it's 2 reasons - 1. The fact that exclusives are only available at sideshow. 2. The piece of mind of ordering through sideshow - no cancellation fees, and if there is anything wrong with the product, knowing that their customer service is top notch and they will always take care of you.

And then on top of that, you are getting some points back for your orders that you can use anytime in the future (granted not many)

I've debated many times over what to order from Sideshow vs another retailer. Often times it came down to if there was an exclusive available that I wanted, and how much cheaper it was to get from someone else.

Yep, those are the points exactly that it boils down to. Exclusives, no cancellations fees, customer service, and in addition the reward points back don't hurt the safety in ordering from them. With high end collectibles involving a great measure of fragile parts, for me that factor is quite important. Hot Toys I will order wherever I can get the best price, usually our very own Joe since I've done business with him in the past and I don't customarily have to worry about exclusives. And worry over broken parts is at a minimum when the collectible isn't polystone. :lol

Also, not every secondary retailer will sell Marvel, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Dinosauria, all of which I collect and get points to bank for any and all of them when I order directly from Sideshow. With Dinosauria I only plan on getting exclusives, which renders secondary retailers a moot point for me. Sideshow's customer service is top knotch as well. When I ordered a Dark Lord Sauron statue from them and two of the spikes on the helm were damaged, I contacted SSC and another statue was on its way.

The asbsence of cancellation fees are my biggest reason for ordering through Sideshow if its not the exclusive. Right now I have three non-exclusives on order from Sideshow just in case I can't afford them when the time comes, or in case something better comes along. It's always a hard decision. And sometimes when money is tight I've even cancelled an exclusive (because it was better to get the reg than none at all) to get a reg through a retailer.

Same. If not for placing my pre-orders through SSC, I would have lost a TON in cancellations fees for Terminator Salvation collectibles. :lol

Me too! The only one I kept was the T-700 because I never got a T-800. Everything else had to go.

Can't wait to start seeing pics in this thread real soon. :rock :rock

Yeah thank god for SS not having cancellation fees, I would have a ton of fees by now with all the things I've cancelled, it's good to know that you can order and take your time to decide if you need to cancel or not without being hit by a fee...

I don't know, it still seems weird to me. Obviously I don't represent the average retailer but I do know:

1.) I have ordered exclusive statues for the store (apparently I'm not supposed to be able to do that?)
2.) I have outstanding customer service
3.) I get every statue insured so there's no risk to anyone
4.) I can give bigger discounts than 5% without requiring any commitments or loyalty from the customer
5.) I don't charge people to cancel something. That's just silly.

So maybe I'm not like other retailers, because the very foundation upon which my business is built means that I hold everything to a higher standard than bigger retailers might be able to. Still, in the interest of being a competitive seller, I do indeed try to meet or exceed my competitors, even if Sideshow is one of them.

Anyway, can't wait for the flesh-eating bull. Did you guys get a separate e-mail concerning the ship date for the third? I don't think I received that one just yet.

Dan, Are you sure you get the exclusives for sale in your store? I really thought that retailers may be able to secure one of the exclusive, but not many. I always thought they were an incentive to order directly with SS. Also, on your website, only the regular shows as available to order. Just wondering.

Oh yeah, my site only shows the regular editions because that's what I normally buy. My customer base typically consists of academics - in other words, people who are too smart and too poor to agree to paying more money than they need to. For anything. They keep me on my toes, LoL.

Since I'm a new Sideshow retailer, I don't know much about the normal rules for exclusive purchases by retailers. All I know is that they had no trouble agreeing to my request for the Deinosuchus v. Parasaurolophus Exclusive and Regular editions when I spoke to them over the phone. :)
