Re: Hot Toys The Dark Knight: Batmobile - Tumbler (relaunch)

Different panels look lighter or darker as light hits them, but as far as my copy goes, they're all pretty much uniform black when examined closely under the same even lighting - which was easier to do with pieces taken apart. Wen the whole thing is assembled I think it will always look like different black shades.

I decided to send it back in the end , the prints didn't really come off and would bug as they stuck out like a sore thumb. So back trying to find one again this is proving quite a man hunt lol

My tumbler has been packed up for over 6months and I decided to "check in" on it and I've noticed some paint fading on the outside of the front struts! I wouldn't say fading as much as thinning? It just looks different from the rest of the panels! Only real noticeable if there is a bright light shining on the panels.

But I feel like it might have something to do with the styrofoam? Thoughts?

Only if it's been rubbing - shouldn't be any problem with contact without movement.

I bought mine as "damaged" from BBTS, and apart from having to glue a 2mm point on one of the spoilers, it's perfect. This wasn't even the damaged that was described - obviously the original owner didn't know how to put it together.

I'd take almost any type of damage that involves glue, paint or rewiring to repair, for the right price. Better than paying $700 to $1000 which is the going price for one right now. I'd sooner buy a camo version and repaint it than spend $1000 on an original black one.

So I was moving my tumbler today... And the rear driver side wheels came off of the axle. Slid back on easily enough, but kind of freaked me out. Is this normal? Also gonna put them on a card table, gonna try to make a custom support to go from the floor to the center of the table. Any thoughts on this? Bad idea? View attachment 64512

No, not normal. This is from memory as I didn't take any photos when I took the rear end apart on my Tumbler... The wheels are held in place by two bolts, one on each side that thread into the axle. One bolt should be spot welded and the other free to turn with a screwdriver. The bolts themselves are hidden behind the center hub cap which is glued in place onto the wheel.

It's possible the bolt has just unthreaded. Easy fix. The best SS can likely do is to offer you a discount - definitely try it. But you'll probably have to fix it yourself. If you take some photos of the parts I can guide you through it.

You're the man! I will take some photos of it tomorrow night! What do you need to see?

Remove anything that's loose, wheels, axle, etc. Take a picture of each. I want to see what's still together and what's still apart.

i just open up my camo ,i have a shock of it size even though has been on this forum looking at the pictures. wonder what would be my reaction when i receive the 89 batmobile

What's inside the wheel in that photo? Is it the burgundy colored retainers that prevent the wheels form turning? Remove them if so.

Grab a picture of the other side (outside) of the wheel please. Is the center (bolt) cap still in place? You're going to have to remove it to do a proper repair.

There should hopefully be a loose bolt trapped inside your wheel behind the hex-shaped cap. That bolt will either thread into or solder/glue onto that axle - into the hole you can see in your first picture. On my Tumbler that was the bolt that was permanently affixed to the axle - the one on the other side can be unscrewed after removing the hex-shaped center cap.

It has a few spots of glue on it, but yes, it will pry off. Just be careful not to damage it - if you have a plastic pry tool, much better than using a screwdriver. Some small nicks aren't gong to matter much though as they're easy enough to clean up.
