Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I received a pm from someone who also translated the article and said this will more than likely be $800-$900 at the highest (based on yen conversion) and HT was able to keep it under $1,000 because of the slight reduction in scale, if it were true 1/6 then it would cost 20%-30% more than what it will eventually be sold for.

Something like that. :lol

where is this article? i heard about it but not seen it yet, I take it your reffering to the burtonmobile?

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

2 things:

Wow, I've got this thing and DAMN that box did look massive in this video.

Secondly she mentioned that they took out the wheel locks but put them back into the front wheels to be on the safe side. HOW did they get the front ones out in the first place??!! I've never managed it, they've been stuck in there since I got the thing.

Those weren't the two things I got from that video. :yess: :horror

Sound more and more like this is going to be a pass. Shouldn't be more then the Tumbler. The Tumbler is more complicated and intricate.

Not really, they already had all the R&D done for the Tumbler, the 89 Batmobile is all brand new

Doesn't mean that it will be cheaper beacuse they got all that done!
You mean they will charge more beacuse they have to plan it all from scratch?
No - I think it should be cheaper beacuse it's just one big piece of plastic on wheels.

it's just one big piece of plastic on wheels.

I'm really getting tired of seeing this expression.

Some of you make it seem like it's no more complex than a pine wood durby car on wheels.

I'm actually in favour of it since its being used to make the argument that this should be a good bit below the $1000 mark we're all fearing.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I like both designs. they are a good contrast in shape.

In general, making a simple yet beautiful curve (89' batmobile) is a lot more difficult than putting together straight-cut panels (Tumbler) . Any modeler would know this. just my 2 cents..

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

Yeah but that wouldn't be much if an issue after it's done... they just cast the mold.

The assembly required for Tumbler is clearly more effort for the factory workers.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

And lets not forget in all of this how much is going to the license owners.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I canceled everything I have on pre-order :)monkey2)
I WANT THIS MONSTER! :yess:

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

As someone who owned this (and then sold it), I want to give prospective buyers a realistic look at what they're getting (and I apologize in advance, because I know a lot of this has already been discussed ad nauseum):
-In and of itself, it is very impressive, and huge, huge, huge! You have to make sure that you have the space to display it properly (one of the main reasons I sold out is because it was languishing in my garage for the last few months).
-It is also VERY delicate, bordering on cheap: a lot of the spoiler/fin attachments are very fragile, and even though I tried to be very careful, I still ended up damaging many of them.
-The LED lights ended up getting weird on me. If the batteries were in the tumbler, the lights would always be on, even if I had the switch in the "off" position.
Anyways, it was still a great piece. I don't regret buying it, but then again, I don't regret selling it either.

What did you cancel? I canceled the Sully figure so far... The only items I have pre-ordered is Joker and Boba Fett.

Re: The Dark Knight: 1/6th scale Batmobile Collectible (relaunch)

I am so glad that HT re-launch this and able to pre-order through SS with Flex! I remember back then only through DC Direct(I think), Toys2 and a few others with no payment plan. I am not gonna miss it for the 2nd time.
Now hoping HT to re-launch the Bat Pod as well. I want that one also.

What did you expect, it's built in China. :lol
